Quote of the Week

"What?" James asked. His eyes grew to the size of saucers. "Already? I literally just got here!" "Don't worry, James. You'll do fine," Jane comforted. "Vandalism cases are usually pretty easy to solve, so it's the perfect case to start you off with." "You're sure about that?" "One hundred percent." She crossed her arms. "You can go with Janet to investigate the vandalized areas while Natia and I interview some of the owners of the buildings." So now I had to work with him? It was bad enough that we got an apprentice. I was planning on just working alone while he was around. Yes, that was most likely not going to happen, but I can still hope. James looked at me nervously. He said, "Do I have to work with her? I'd rather work with you." "I just figured you want to learn how to examine a scene first," Jane informed. "Why? Is there a problem?"

Overly-Complicated Slushie Shop Analysis

Happy Valley is a happy place, why else would it be called Happy Valley? Jolly residents spread cheer throughout the streets and show that the warmest town in Neopia is indeed found at the frozen base of Terror Mountain. These dandy denizens come from different backgrounds and species, but one thing that they can all agree on is that it is never too cold to have a slushie. The Slushie Shop is considered by many to be the gem of Happy Valley, neopets flock from all over Neopia to sample the frosty goodness of one of the shop’s famous slushies. “But why slushies in a perpetually winter wonderland?” You might ask. Today I am here to find out, I am going to give you an overly-complicated analysis of the Slushie Shop.

The Scrivener's Survey

But most of us don’t really have enough time to read every single thing ever written. Or, let’s say you’ve finished a book that’s left you wishing you could clear out your brain like you can your Safety Deposit Box. What to read, what not to read, what won’t turn you into a Zombie Spardel with a drooling problem… the world of books can be tough to navigate! That’s where the Scrivener comes in. Who is this mysterious Scrivener, you may ask? Who is that dashing vigilante of literary justice, the debonair Disco Zafara who breaks into your house at night and steals your Sword of Skardsen—

"Adventures in Mystery Island" by dunefurandlilypelt
Dappletail_13, or just Dappletail, a young female Glowing Uni, woke up. It was a beautiful blue-skied day in Mystery Island, her home, and she could smell the ocean breeze coming in from her opened window. Looking outside it, the palms swayed in the breeze and there were even a few wild Taigars running about. She lived with her three siblings, two older and one younger. Her two older siblings were her sisters, and her one younger sibling was her little brother. They all loved each other very much and were great friends. Dappletail's beloved petpet was an awesome Plushie Slorg named Stonefish, and he was her best friend. Well, except for her best friend that seemed to be showing up just about now. Her second oldest sister, a Starry Tuskaninny named Streamflight, suddenly entered her room. "Noah's here, like always," Streamflight announced. “Ready to go on another one of those explorations you two always do.”

"Mystery Island Traveller's Diary" by mucka33
3rd Day of the Month of Relaxing, Y18 – Day 1 - Oh what a beautiful day! Gone are the dreary clouds and bone-chilling humidity of Shenkuu’s late spring, and arrived are the hot sun and blue skies of Mystery Island. The airship ride from Shenkuu to a small island off the coast of Moltara, and the subsequent boat ride to Mystery Island, was very enjoyable. As we lost elevation, the damp air dried and the clouds dissipated, paving the way for sun, sun, and more sun! My accommodations here on the Island are modest but comfortable. I rented a small hut near the beach, five minutes away from the main town district. Palm trees sway in the gentle ocean breeze, much different from the gnarled oriental trees of Shenkuu. The ocean, too, is a pleasant background noise, akin to the rushing rapids of my home but much softer. And oh, the sunsets! My first night’s sunset here was a gorgeous painting of pink and purple from horizon to horizon. This trip is going to be amazing, I just know it.

"Acquaintances" by theschizophrenicpunk
Brightvale castle is almost always silent, especially once the moon rises. Early to bed and early to rise makes Neopets, uh... something, something, and wise. Roberta's heard her uncle recite that proverb a million times over, but she always forgets how it ends. Mostly because she wants to. After all, there's nothing she loves more than staying up late and reading a book by candlelight, kept company by the beautiful light of Kreludor, the chill of the evening air, and the sound of the waves crashing down upon the Brightvale coast just outside the castle walls. Yet still, she has a curfew. Which is ridiculous, she thinks, considering she, you know, saved the world and all. But Uncle Hagan seems to think that heroes still need a bedtime, and need guards constantly posted outside their door, and need all lights to be out by 11:35pm NST every night, on the dot. But what fun is that?

The Scrivener's Survey
This Scrivener has come out of anonymity to share with all of Neopia, via the Times, the inside scoop on books I’ve read! For truth! For justice! For informed book buying! (And also because the Defenders of Neopia, in no uncertain terms, told me to switch to a more “conventional” method of spreading literary information. When Judge Hog speaks, you listen.)

Underwater
I'm a water Lutari who's lived her entire life in a network of caves deep under the ocean. I've never seen the sky, or the sun, or other people—except for my mum, but that one is a given for most kids, isn't it? I sleep in a bed of warm, blue sponge—magic, no doubt—and go fishing once a week with my mum for what she calls the "necessities." I play with various things my mum says come from the "surface," and occasionally the odd plushie that pops up in the fishing hole.
