Round and round and round... Round, round, round and round....

It was raining out. Gaint, freezing raindrops poured from the clouds, creating something like a gaint, vast waterfall, making it hard to see. Trees overhead groaned, and bent so far back in the wind, they looked as if they were about to snap in half. Grass was floating in puddles of mud and water, and the newly risen flowers of spring were crumpled and soaked. Even the sun was having a hard time. It struggled to rise between swollen rainclouds. Everything was gloomy, terrible... Wet. Everyone was shut tightly in thier neohomes, windows locked, doors bolted, and neopets curled up tightly in warm blankets. Yes, everyone was in thier homes but one. It happened to be an unfortunate traveller who got caught in the storm. In other words; you.

Wind howled across the land, making your ears feel as if they were about to freeze. Rain continued to pour, stinging your face, hands, and arms. Innocently buying some things to pamper your beloved pets, books, toys, food... All getting soaked in the bag they were in, you had never expected this. Oh yes, the Channel 77 NeoNews Had told you there would be a storm, but when have they ever been right? You silently scolded yourself for not listening, and looked distastefully at your surroundings. "Rain, nothing but rain! Thats all Spring brings," You scowled, shivering. "Any colder and it could be called hail!" Continuing your *lovley* stroll in the season, all that was on your mind was reaching home, putting on something dry then heating up a can of soup and curling in a blanket in front of your TV. What weather. Appealed by the thought of a warm bath and the heater on in your comfortable neohome, you stopped walking. Yes, a nice bath, blanket, soup, and music... Wait, music? You shook your head. But somewhere, a faint voice and soft tinkling sound could be heard. You tried to push the sound from your mind. Am I going mad? You thought to yourself. Possibly. This rain drives people crazy-- You stopped thinking in mid-sentence. Was it getting louder? Yes, it was.
Round and round and round....
You whipped your head around. Yes, it was getting louder! You panicked. But where was it coming from? The tinkling sound turned into a low hum. It sounded as if someone--or something, mind you--were playing an insturment. The hum stopped. So did the voice. Almost immediatly the rain softenend, then abruptly stopped. Of course! You had almost forgotten it was raining! But why...? Something far away moved. It sounded like it was slithering. Was it a Wadjet? Possibly. Or maybe a reptillor? You shuddered. Aren't they poisinous---
Howdy Do?"
Your heart almost leapt to your throat. You jumped, then painfully jerked your head in the direction of the voice. Losing your balance, you stumbled, and landed in an awkward position in the mud.
Sorry stranger, didn't mean to startle you."
You caught a glimpse of the creature. It was a neopet, at least. Or a weird one. It was a deep blue, with glittering scales and a bright yellow underside. Two big wings sprouted a little below it's neck, and spread out as a greeting. They had a small outline of a darker blue on them. And its tail--or still its neck, you couldn't tell, it hand no legs or arms--was curved into a hook. It bared its fangs, probablly what was intended to be a smile.
Er, hiya there, I'm Aquescies, nice to meet ya!"

.:.:.:.:.

Sooo, how'd you end up here, wandering like a miamouse in a feild of miamouse traps?" Asked Aquescies. She smacked her lips, as if the mere thought of a Miamouse sounded appealing. "Y-you don't eat them, do you?" you asked wearily, unable to bear the thought of a cute Petpet such as that struggling between jaws. Aquescies looked hurt, as if she couldn't imagine that either. "I'd never eat something alive like that!" she hissed. "I happen to like the cheese humans and Neopets put in thier traps." She rolled her eyes as if that settled it, then bared her teeth in a 'smile' again. She cleared her throat. "Now, really, what are you doing here?" She asked again. "Oh, I really didn't want to end up here. I got caught in the storm. Just went out to town to get some stuff and, well, I got sidetracked by the rain. It rained so hard I could barley see where I was going! and you know what else? I heard music, too! And the weirdest thing too! When it stopped, so did the rain, and--" Aquescies went into a fit of giggles. (Or hiss-giggles, due to the fact they sounded like "ssshahsshasha!".) "I know, I know, I was there!" She half giggled, half said. "Maybe I should explain some. You look as lost as a Spardel in a genious convention. C'mon then, out here is no place to talk. Too wet still. I'll bring you to my home! Its not much, but at least its warm. And anyway, any friend of mine is a friend of my owner! Right then, scurry along and lets go! its not far." Without hesitation you agreed, and though you were chilled to the bone, you let the thought of a warm bed, blankets, and possibly food drive you on.

.:.:.:.:.

After a few minutes of walking, a small, new neohome was visible. It wasn't the most impressive thing ever, but it was tidy. Coats of new paint were on the outside walls. A flower bed too, but a bit muddy. There was a "Welcome!" mat on the front step with a smiling mutant lupe, red koi, brown uni, and... What looked like a picture of Aquescies. Aquescies rang the doorbell, and a muscular uni opened the front door. "Hey there, Aquescies! And, oh! You've got a friend, come on in, its awfully wet out there." With that last sentence, she cast a playful look at Aquescies, then shut the front door behind you and your 'friend'. A brown-haired, short girl appeared from a doorway, with curly, frizzy hair and light brown eyes. She took one look at your wet hair, clothes, and soggy package, and laughed. She offered you a towel, which was soft and fluffy. You took it gratefully, and wrapped it around your shoulders. Aquescies waited patiently, and led you to her room, or lair, as she called it. "So, before I tell you anything, I need to know your name... er--,"
Call me guest."
Okay then! but let me introduce myself properly. I am Aquescies, you know that much--call me Aqua for short--and here are my stats, so you know.

Age: 39941
Level: 4
Strength: 12
Movement: 11
Defence: 12
Current HP: 11

Aquescies suddenly sighed, and wriggled onto the floor. She retreived a small object, a cross between a harmonica and a peice of glass. "Its an ocarnia," Aqua explained. "That is what made the rain go--and stop." You looked at her pathetically. Like that thing could really-- She then started playing. It was the same tinkling sound. As sweet as bells ringing in the wind... A droplet of rain splashed harshly against the window. Then another. The clouds were now pouring raindrops onto the earth, just like the previous storm. You were shocked. Can this really mean she can control it? You thought. Aquescies began humming a tune, then whisperng.Round, round, round... The wind swirled in a whirlpool. So this was what you heard! The voice, the music... She amuses herself by playing with.... Rain!
The music stopped. The whirlpool collasped. The rain faltered. "See? Told Ya." Her voice rang out, breaking your thoughts. She tucked the ocarnia away, being careful not to scratch or smudge it. You stared blankly at her. She gave an exasperated groan. "Great, I'll just tell you the entire story," she almost snarled. You shrank back, frightened by her sudden rage. "Sorry, sorry. It just gets me angry. Sure, its a great gift, but it gets annoying. One day I sneezed and a glass of water sitting on a desk spilled all over the place. Its easier now, thanks to my instrument, but still difficult." She smiled, as if it were gold instead of glass. "Fine then. We'll have to go back in time, no, not literally, Geez, but with words. It all began sometime like, 1 or 2 years ago...."

Aquescies suddenly became clear and descriptive, like clear ocean water. Her voice took on a mysterious tone, like the wonders of the sea. You could almost hear ocean waves splashing against the window. Her eyes were large and sparkling, as if having an inferno of liquid in them. Her voice seemed to block out every other sound; the nature outside, the clamor of pots and pans as her owner was preparing for dinner, even your own breathing. It felt like if you were in a thick bubble. Unable to break out, hear, losing contact with the outside world--Not like it doesn't happen when you play games to earn NP or anything--and suddenly, it felt as if you were warped to a lake, next to a giant ravine, with wild grass and trees on the rich dirt, sun beating down on your face... But it couldn't be. You were still with Aquescies. Her voice was opening a passageway into the past! It was like looking through clear liquid, and seeing in its depths! You held your breath for a moment. Flying out of the ravine was a young, scaly... Erm, it looked like Aquescies, basically. Steadily making continuous turns in a circle, it got you dizzy. What the heck..? Something big thundered in the distance. You winced. BOOM. Giant black clouds rolled up, up, over the horizon. The thing screeched. Thunder exploded in return. You ripped your eyes away from the scene. it sounded like if they were talking.... The storm clouds suddenly swelled, and came down with tremedous force. You gasped, as the creature went down, down into the giant crack in the earth... The Ravine.

Your thoughts suddenly swirled. You groaned. Down, down... Screaming, and suddenly realizing you were still holding your breath, you gasped for air. Someone spoke.Want to see more? Snapping back into reality, you eyed the triangular head bending over you.I said, would you like to see more? Awkwardly moving your head in a half nod, half shake and struggling vainly to stop trembling, the trianglur head, which you dully realized was Aquescies began to speak again.

Chapter One: The Ravine

Wind howled around the gaping crack in Neopia. The creature resembling Aquescies was screaming, hollering, and desperatly trying to flap its wings... But no use! The wind was too strong, and playing with it like a Wocky with a Wocky toy...She crashed into a wall, crying. The wind whistled louder, like it was fun. Again. The creature was now crying in pain... Ypou felt stinging tears in the back of your eyes. Why couldn't you help it? You tried reaching out for it, but no... It just went through your solid hand. It merely twitched. You were gasping now. WHAM. Against the wall again. The wind screeched playfully. Then the creature was plummenting straight down, body arched. It was out-cold. But what would become of it? Surely it would be crushed by the pressure of falling straight down onto the ground? A single tear slid down your cheek. Why? And with a sickening crash, you realized it had reached the ground.

***

You screamed out in anguish. Tears gushed crazily from your eyes. The things scales were dull and ugly-looking, and coated with dust. Its wings were flopped uselessly to its sides, and its tail.... It was curved into a hook! It probably got disformed after crashing onto the walls and ground, you thought, bewildered. Maybe... Something wet and cold broke your thoughts. Rain! You furrowed your brow. For Petes sake... Thunder boomed. Wind howled. "Auuuugh!!!" you screamed, banging your head against the wall of the ravine, and failing miserably. Again and again your head went through, and again and again rain dropped on your back, and again and again someone was making a clattering noise, and again and again someone was calling your name, and again and again the creature slammed into the wall, and again and again....

guest!"
Your name was called harshly. You realized that your head ached horribly, and there were several holes in the walls of the room you were in. "guest..." You suddenly realized who it was. Aquescies! Immediatly, your eyes became fixed on her tail, which she quickly tucked underneath her coiled body. She looked uptight. "Whats wrong with you?" she began, in a patient, but not-so-patient voice. "You broke three holes through my wall." Your gaze flew to the holes, and you winced. You also noticed a Mutant Lupe, the Brown Uni you saw before, and a re Koi, (surpisingly standing upright on two fins) were all crowded at the door, as if afraid. Aquescies cleared her throat. "Erm, yes. And you were screaming and wincing and crying. You made quite a show. Is something wrong?" You shook your head. Aquescies looked at you suspiciously. "Y'know, whe veiwing my illusions, keep in mind that you're not really there, and I'm watching and hearing everything you do. Only your mind is away." She laughed and stared pathetically at the wall with holes. "It seems you have quite a hard noggin," she said flicking her tounge at a bump forming on your head. "I had to play my rain song to stop you, and apparantly, that didn't work." You glanced at your shirt. It was soaking wet. You opened your mouth to speak, and as if to answer your question, she mumbled; "and the clangs you heard were coming from the kitchen. Lunar is still preparing dinner. Eh, seems I must explain then, you look confused as," "a spardel at a genious convention," You finished for her, smiling.

***

Aquescies frowned as she led the way down to the kitchen. Your stomach was growling louder than an annoyed Skieth, but you didn't care. You were too confused to think about anything else. Aqua seemed more quiet, as if she was going to explain something she didn't want to. You nearly bumped into the walls of the neohome more than once; your mind seemed to take a one-way trip to someplace far away. As the wooden kitchen door drew nearer, fumes of tasty soup, beans, chicken, and rice filled your nostrils. So hungry...

Time moved slowly. Auqescies seemed to be defy the law of physics; a portion of her body was twisted so she had a grip on a fork, and her wing was supporting a spoon, so she could pick up food with her fork and drop it in the spoon, in which her forked tongue would wrap around and devour. Zaokii's nose twitched often at the sight, and more than once he burst out laughing and nearly avoided colliding head-first with his soup. Shaminette lodged a fork between her hoof, and was glaring at Zaokii and stuffing large portions of chicken in her mouth. (She almost ate the napkin without noticing.) Lunar, thier owner, however; took no notice, she merely grinned at the sight and asked everyone for seconds. Aquescies asked, and in the process, dropped her fork, which went flying into the table leg.

***

The rest of the meal was pretty much the same. After the second time the fork Aquescies was holding flew somewhere else, Lunar advised just eating it headfirst. Aquescies releculantly took the offer, and shoved her head into her soup, where she kept it the rest of the dinner. Zaokii ate his chicken without further stres from Shaminette, though he looked enviously at Aquescies. Lunar didn't touch her food. Shaminette shook her head disapprovingly at Aquescies. The Koi you saw before, (whos name was Senjae) Stuck her head in the sink randomly to moisten her gills. If this was a normal dinner, oddness must be beyond weird already. After a few more minutes of chewing, swallowing, and the running of sink water, Aquescies pulled her head out of the bowl, which was now covered in bits of vegetables, steak, and noodles. She cleared her throat. Lunar nodded, and Shaminette cleared the table. Senjae's head was in the sink again. Zaokii's ears were perked.
To be continued... -ish lazy-
