BRATHAY
Greetings Visitor. I expect you came here seeking more information about the Roath Dalgor.... No? Well, whatever you are here for, feel free to look around and learn as much as you wish from my tales, facts and adventures.
The beginning
Little is known about my past as far back as when I was a hatchling. What is known is that my father was a deep purple hued land dragon and my mother was a draik of the sky of a pale green hue. I have only faint memories of them both. I seem to remember beeing seperated from them at a very early age. Still I can't remember the reason why. I have only flashes of fear and saddness. And yet my upbringing was not sad in the slightest.
I was brought up by humans, in a truly wonderful home. I was treated with kindness and respect, taught well how I should and shouldn't behave. My fosters recognised that I would need to have my own space and freedom. And yet they seemed to treat me differently somehow. I was not the only draik in their care. There were a number of young draiks, all of different origins and appearence. Alot of them were pared off or put in to small groups so they wouldn't grow up alone. Yet I was raised mainly in solitary. A few times i met the others, and though it was fun, it wasn't very often.
I soon had grown to an excitable and inquisitive adolesent. Much of my time was spent learning about my surroundings, exploring, and quite often, getting in to trouble. I was given more freedom, often aloud to explore on my own for over a day, as long as I would return within a few days. As I ventured further afield, I learned something a little odd. Where ever I went, people and pets alike treated me with a cautious respect. Often I'd try to approach a creature and they'd flee in fear.
As the same reaction occurred in more places I began to question why everyone and everything had such a reaction. A little depressed by this I returned to my home and asked my carers why it was so. I hadn't quite preparred myself for what they were to tell me. They explained everything, including my different upbringing and why I was kept apart from the others. They told me it was all to do with my breed.
I am half Roath Dalgor from my fathers side, a blood line long forbidden and exiled out of the lands i came from. This is the reason for everyone's fear, and the reason I was brought up alone. Though rare, Roath Dalgor draiks are known for being aggressive, destructive and ruthless. My fosters knew not whether I'd be the same, and so be sure, I was kept apart from the others. As I grew they realised that, though I had a hostile streak, I would not call upon it unless I was provoked to use it. They said that the my mothers passive blood mixing with my fathers aggressive blood must have cancelled each other out, meaning I was neither too aggressive nor too shy, and so I show only few of the personality traits of the Roath Dalgor.
I soon learned to accept that I would never be too welcomed by those around me, sometimes to the extent of gaining a hostile reception. This meant that I would not approach another for a long time and often hid myself from others sight. I spent much of my time exploring the mountains. I found that few ventured as high as I could travel, bit i was drawn the them for another reason, drawn to their beauty.
It was atop one of these mountains that I met my charge. A girl had inadventantly come across my path. Though cautious of me, she seemed not to be afraid. Over that day I built her confidence. As the day ended she asked to meet again. And so we did, many times. I share a close bond with Nessa. Ever since our meeting, we have been close friends.
It soon came to the day where it was time to leave the fosters. I barely returned to them any more and so knew it was time for me to break away. I returned to them and told them of my travels and plans. I promised them that I'd visit them, and still i do, on occasions.
Though I had left my first home, i gained a family and a second home. Having few friends other than Nessa, much of my time was spent with her whenever I seeked company. After some time, I took it upon myself to become her guardian. Since she trusted me when no others would then I would repay her by my loyalty, help and guidence when ever I could, just like she has done for me. I still have my freedom, though my guardianship has led to this being restricted. Still, I would do anything for my charge and would have no other path in life other than being her guardian.

A Destined Meeting
The day started out and carried on like any other might. I had prepared for a days exploring and had chosen a well known route to follow over the mountains. After a couple of hours flying, I decided to rest on the peak of a forest covered mountain so that I could admire the view. I was just about to leave when I heard the faint sound of raised voices below. This area was not known to be exactly well populated and so, I decided it was worth some investigation.
Folding my wings, I made myway through the forest on foot towards the voices. Because of my large size, I often found it difficult going and had to do a little... redecoration of the trees to get through. As I had thought, those who had been arguing were too busy with one another to have noticed I was there. From my hiding place I counted three people, two seemed to be together and the third was alone and held the regns to what I assumed was a horse. For a few moments I watched the three arguing, what about I couldn't tell. After a few moments the dispute seemed to be ended by a few words of the lone male. as he bagan to leave he gave a vicious tug on the reigns. To my surprise, the lead ropes were extrordinaryly long, but it wanothing compared to what I saw next. On the end of these reigns was a weak, beaten and chained dragon. She limped along behind as though she were being led away to her death. Though I knew not why she was there, something inside would not let me just leave her to where ever she was being forcefully led.
With all my strength I pushed my wings against the two trees next to me and pushed them over. Taking in a deep breath, I sounded the loudest roar I could before I jumped in to the air and glided towards the humans. This display alone seemed enough to frighten away two lone men, but the human who claimed the dragoness drew his sword and faced me. With a sharp tog on the lead rope, the female dragon fell to the ground, where she nervously watched me and her human engage in combat. I never wished to hurt this human, and I did my best not to do too much damage, but after a few minutes of exchanging blows, I decided enough was enough. Conjouring p my will, I created a small fire ball and threw it as a warning shot at the humans feet. Unfortunatly, my aim was a bit off and I burned his shoes and the bottom of his trousers. This seemed enough to get my message across to the stranger, who quite wisely, sheathed his sword and fled in to the forest.
Finally I was able to turn my attention to the wounded dragon. Landing next to her I studied her wounds. They were deep and infected and would need much treatment to heal properly. As I approached her, the dragoness began to struggle against her chains, which cut deeper in to her wounds. For some reason, she seemed afraid of me. I tried talking to her, but whether it had any affect or not, I couldn't tell. After a short while of waiting and gentle persuasion she finally let me get close enough to help her out. I loosened the chains, leather strappings and ropes which held her, breaking those I couldn't get to open willingly, until she was finally free of all of her bindings. Once free she tried to turn and run, but her wounds betrayed her footing and she fell to the earth where she stayed. Worried for her health, I knew I had to do something and fast.
Being quite a bit smaller than me, I was able to pick her up easily. With a tight grip on her I took off and began to fly back to my home. Even with her added weight, my flight was hardly imparred. After only an hour in the air I finally returned to the home of my guard, Nessa. Hearing my approach she came out to greet me, and seemed surprised when I dropped my small package on to the ground gently. Nessa got to work straight away with stitching and treating her wounds.
She was in a pretty bad way. It took 3 days before she woke up again, and it would take another two weeks before she had gained her strength enough to walk outside. Over this time I got to know her. She was wild, untrusting and cynical, but there was a deep underlying sadness in her eyes. It took all the time we had over her recovery for me to finally befriend her. It was late in the second wek when I finally discovered her name was Alinair. Even still, she was reluctant to divulge on information about her past.
Once she was well enough to fly, I was little surprised when she asked me if I'd like to travel with her for a while. Ofcourse, loving to explore, I accepted and we went on our way. Little was I to know that the time I was to spend with her was going to change my life.
(to be continued...)
Roath Dalgor Draik's
Though I am not proud of my origins, atleast on one half, I have accepted who I am. In doing so I have also learned a little about others of similar blood. I have never met another of my breed... and am unsure whether I'd like to. Maybe if i did, I could see if all the rumours were true.
My breed is a particularly rare one, although thats probably for the best. Those With Roath Dalgor are more commonly known for their aggressive, blood thirsty and destructive behaviour. It is simply in our nature. Luckily enough for me, I was brought up by humans and an not a full blood. Therefore i show only few of the personality traits of my breed.
Most of all, the breed is known for their aggression and quick temper. I am lucky enough to be quite calm, but I do posess quite an aggression. As long as I am not aggrovated, then this side of my personality remains hidden.
Another trait I posess is the love of the mountains. Be it the air, the view or the height, something draws us all to the mountainous regions of the world. I often like to visit mountain ranges, although it is not always possible.
The Roath Dalgor are not even looked upon kindly by other draiks, draik clans or tribes. Because of this, they are known to travel alone, usually causing havoc in some way or another.
Dalgorian History
I heve learned a little of their history. It is believed the traits were bred in to the creatures deliberatly. It all started in a single kingdom (it's name no longer found in any records) by decree of a power hungry king. The aim was to create a fierce and intimidating creature to aid in the battles of humans and the two legged kind. They succeeded to a point. Often, one Dalgorian was under the command of a single person known as an Elder. At first, these dragons were fiercly loyal to their elder, being brought up by this person, and were taught to only use their aggression against the designated enemy. When not needed they remained in a large secure confinement, which was no more than a large cage.
They were first introduced in a battle between this kingdom and a neighbouring country. The defeat of their enemy was quick and easy. The breed was initially thought of very highly. The name 'Roath dalgor' was given, basicaly meaning 'Blood Knight', due to their inborn blood lust. Other powerful nations heard of their success and became interested in purchasing this powerful weapon. Selling for a high price, the king made a handsome profit from his creations. As word spread, the demand for these dangerous creatures grew, and the king was more than willing to trade for a high enough price, regardless of the intention of the buyer. And so the breed spread across the land.
As years went on, unchecked by their creators, the breed grew gradually more aggressive, becoming more single minded. They began to disobey their elders orders. It was not long before the first Dalgorian killed its elder and escaped. At first this was ignored, thought of as just an unfortunate turn of events. However, this action was like the catalyst that started off the rebellion of the breed. Tired of their confined life and restrictions of their actions, many more joined the first and escaped their captors. When used in battles, they began to wound and kill anyone and anything, regardless of their loyalty. Those now free started to attack livestock and humans alike, sometimes even destroying entire villages.
People soon began to fear the breed. The blame was placed upon the greedy king and his nation. He recieved a flood of hostile threats from those countries he had sold to. Even his own people began to turn against him. It soon became clear that he could no longer control many of these dragons. Fearing his position and his life, he decided he would order that all Roath Dalgor Draiks be slaughtered. He made it known that their very existance was against the law and all were to be destroyed without exception. No longer seeing them as worthy of their title, he now referred to them as 'Blood Hexed'. Those still loyal to their elders and their country were not spared, being killed as a precaution. Knights and souldiers were sent out to with the intention of making the Roath Dalgor Draiks extinct.
The Roath Dalgor did themselves no favours. When confronted by any of the troops sent out against them they would not back down. Niether did they hide themselves, or join forces, often killing each other due to their highly territorial natures. Over the next two years the slaughter continued and the majority of the breed had been wiped out. Soon, the only remaining Dalgorian draiks were half breeds or those with a greater mental ability. Though just as aggressive and territorial, they had the capacity to work out whether or not it was in their best interest to hide. They were more cunning and able to work out an affective plan of attack, sometimes able to take down an entire military unit single handedly with a carefully devised plan.
When the cases of attacks from the Roath Dalgor ceased, the king took this as a sign that his order to wipe out the breed had been successful. Calling back his troops he began counting his losses. Many of his men had been killed in the confrontations with the Dalgorian dragons. Not only this, many of his people had fled his land to other countries, either in fear of the Roath Dalgor or through loss of respect of their ruler. His finincial resources gained from the sales of his dragons were lost to pay other countries for their damages or to pay for military help in wiping out his breed. Slowly the kingdom lost power and standing. Ironically, the final blow was dealt by the first land it had attacked using his dragons. And so the kingdom that had given birth to the fierce breed fell, its name and origin forgotten.
However, it had left its mark on the surrounding lands. The orders were kept and the Dalgorian breed remained forbidden. The name 'Blood hexed' spread and eventually took over from the actual meaning of the words. With rare attacks from the Roath Dalgor, these countries held on to the rules set down by the fallen kingdom, and up to this date has never been changed.

Lifri

He was a gift given to me by Nessa. He has become a wonderful companion, and like me, loves mountainous areas and exploring. I often take him with me on an adventure, especially if noone else can come with me.
When he was a pup he was the most playful little thing. I was suprised that he wasn't afraid of me. Though so small he never seemed intimidated by my size. I was often tired out by his endless energy. He was also a little trouble maker. He used to chew upon my horns, or wings, or what ever he could get his mouth around. I often woke up with him chewing at my mane or tail, leaving me with a wonderful hair style.

Though grown now, he has maintained that cheeky playfulness which is so charming about him. He's full of confidence and will follow me everywhere, when he can. He's very loyal to me and so caring and gentle with everything and everyone. We might make a bit of an odd couple but i couldn't immagine life without Lifri. He and I are will be friends for life.
Friends

A member of my extended family and the closest thing I have to a sister. A draik, like me, she's one of the few of Nessa's pets who isn't an equine. She really brings out the best in me... or tries anyway. Although, she can be a little annoying she means well. She also comes from another world... But i'd better not say much more as she's sworn me to sercecy.

Other than Air, Zami was my first friend. We first met in her forest. I was enjoying the night air when I spotted her among the trees. Once introductions were over, she invited me to her house. After a long night of exploring I welcomed the warmth of the fire. I'm still amazed by how big her house is!
She was so welcoming and kind on our first meeting. I must take her to see the sunset from the peak of my favourite mountain. It is one of my favourite viewing stations and i do hope she enjoys it there as well.
Zami is a wonderful friend. She's kind, giving, and, not to mention, a great hostess. She is the first forest guardian that i've ever met. I find her curiousity of everyhing quite charming. If one thing is for sure, conversation never runs short. I have found a good friend in Zami, and can only hope that we never become strangers.

Ah, Lady Castamir. Once again i met her whilst feeling the wind surging over my wings. Although this time, we met in the air. It's nice to see others enjoy flying as much as i do. I have yet to see if she can best me in an airborne race. I must admit, she is quite fast... for a girl. *smirk*
Castamir is proving to be a great friend. She's kind and well spoken, and has a similar sense of humour as i. I found out that she's from England and has a love of the coast. I will have to visit her home town some time as she made it sound very interesting. I hope to see more of her in the future, but for the moment, we have a race to finish!
Love
Everyone wishes to meet their kindred... or atleast most of us do, and I'm no exception. Whether we find them or not is down to destiny. And so I don't go out and actively seek love. If anything is meant to happen then it will. For now, I am happy the way I am.
