-no visibility tag in the body tag please- into the air. To the locals this is not such a bad thing, since they have cunningly used it to their advantage. Two words: seasoning sand. It's a great addition to any meal.

Sand Storm

In The Lost Desert all life depends on the never-ending struggle to obtain and retain water. All Neopets and PetPets living in this area have evolved clever methods for maintaining adequate water supplies. For example, the Apis stores water in its lump and can go days without water; the Lyins live under the sand, searching for moisture; and the Desert Elephante can hold enough water in its trunk for three days. Luckily, there's a body of water right outside of the tall walls of Sakhmet City for the rest of the locals to take advantage of.

Places of Interest

Although the Lost Desert may sound quite boring at first, there are many, many places of interest. Feel free to read the following lists and visit the places that catch your attention. If you have spare time, I do suggest visiting all of these places.

Shops:

Sutek's Scrolls : Are your pets new to The Lost Desert? Clueless as to what's going on here or need some background information on Sakhmet Natives and Petpets, then buy a few scrolls or a book or two. Rumour has it that some of the scrolls contain ancient Lost Desert curses that you can give to your best friends.

Sutek

Peopatra's PetPets : Nothing makes a Neopet smile like a PetPet from Peopatra's PetPet shop. Many of the PetPets here have special talents, like burrowing underground, making loud humming noises, roaming around the desert aimlessly, biting fingers, and giggling like mad. If this sounds like something your Neopet would like, then make sure to visit Peopatra's shop.

Osiri's Pottery : Looking to add some style and class to your NeoHome? Come buy some lovely trinkets at Osiri's Pottery store. Buy a simple urn so you won't keep getting asked, "What's with that gray dust lying on your table?" Or how about a lovely jug from which to serve a delicious glass of water? Plus, it's worth a stop at the shop just to ask Osiri where she gets her hair done.

Lady Osiri

Battle Supplies : A few battle accessories are a must in the harsh desert. Why not stop by the Lost Desert Battle Supplies Shop to stock up? Don't let that mysterious shopkeeper scare you. Save your fear for the assortment of daggers, staffs, swords and the like. It's all very Lost Desert, isn't it?

Food Stall : Grab a bite to eat whilst traveling across the hot Lost Desert! A wide range of foods including Scarab cookis, Tchea Fruit, Ummagine, Sutek Muffins and Sand Watermelons. Do watch how much sand you're eating though! Too much of a good thing turns into a really bad thing!

This Place Should Be Called the Lost Dessert by the looks of this shopkeeper!

Games

Tug-o-War : Tug-o-War is the ultimate test of strength, do you think you can prove yourself? Many of the strongest pets that have dominated in the Battledome will come from all around to tug until they can tug no more. Do you think you're strong enough to beat Truggdon the Grundo? Or smart enough to catch Horak cheating?

Khadir

Swarm : Eeewwww, sick! Gross bugs!! Get your spray out... wait, these bugs are Evil Bugs, and they're attacking Neopian Protection Zone 6b, and Neopia needs your help! Get inside your specially-designed Wocky tank and blast the legs right off these bugs before it's too late!!!

Pyramids : What would be a desert without some pyramids? That's easy. A desert without pyramids. Seriously folks, what would The Lost Desert be without pyramids? Lost? Exactly. If you remove all the cards from the Pyramid, you could win big Neopoints, and that's what The Lost Desert is all about... bringing new opportunities to Neopians.

Tehuti

Scarab 21 : Play the cards in any of the five columns in order to get the column's sum to be 21! In addition to the standard scoring possibilities, there are many hidden bonus plays and their payoff can be quite large. Have Fun and good luck!

Sakhmet Solitaire : Now you can play the classic Solitaire card game and win rare items, trophies and neopoints while doing so! Tell the Chomby how many cards to draw out each click, pay the Chomby 50 neopoints and away you go!

Fancy a game of Solitaire?

Mummy Maze : Guide Kiaran the Kyrii through the pyramid to try and collect as much gold as possible. Watch out for the Scorchio mummies, flames, floating skulls and many other devious traps!

Geos : Bomb or build? That's just one of the choices you'll have to make in Geos.

Bomb or Build?

Other

The Calculator : Use this cool Lost Desert Calculator to help you with your homework, pay bills or just click random numbers. There are instructions for opening up advanced functions such as sine, cosine, square root and even a dice that spits out random numbers!

The sqaure root of 64 is 8!

The Fruit Machine : Roll Up... Roll Up, its the one and only Neopet Fruit Machine. Every day you can get one free spin, if the first two fruits match you win a prize. If all three fruits match you win a really big prize!

Coltzan's Shrine : Standing at the peak of a sand dune you see a tall monolith covered with strange heiroglyphics. It is the Shrine of the late King Coltzan III. His spirit still inhabits the shrine, and if you approach, he may grant you something to help you in your battles, a few neopoints or a shiny dubloon!

You hear a high pitched scream then it fades

The Ancient God Anubis

Although the Anubis is most commonly thought of as an adorable little Sakhmetian petpet [don't get me wrong, they're my personal favourite!], Anubis was actually the mortuary God of Ancient Egypt. Meaning, he was the God of the Underworld. In the early stages of Egyptian religion, Anubis was the jackal-headed deity who devoured the dead. However in later Egyptian religion, Anubis' traits showed only very faint traces of his animal-like origin. As the god of the Necropolis at Suit, Anubis was subject to the city-god Upawat, a wolf and sun deity. Along with Thoth, Anubis shared the responsibilities of conducting the dead through Amenti, the Hidden Place, the West ~ the region of the dead where the soul was taken to the hall of Osiris and considered by 42 judges who sent it to Aaru or condemned it to eternal torment.

A cute little Anubis like my Adelle

Anubis is commonly described as a son of Osiris. In the company of Osiris, he attained great recognition. Anubis is a very ancient deity of the dead, and is represented prowling among the graves in the desert surrounding Suit.

Trial on the Nile
The Rock Beast

The following text came from the Gallery of Evil.

The Rock Beast

In the final days of the Siege on Sakhmet, the Evil Dr. Sloth summoned the Rock Beast to ensure his victory and drive out the attacking Neopets. Things however did not go according to plan.

The Rock Beast is nearly indestructable, and when destroyed it can be brought back to life to fight endlessly against any number of opponents. Even seperating its body will not kill it as the individual parts will slowly move back together to reform the beast's body.

Well guest, I hope you have <
thoroughly enjoyed your stay, and i do hope to see you
soon. Please visit my sisters if you have the time! Bye!
