Tristanin

Hailing from a land where the air reigns supreme. Tristanin is out to prove that he is able to represent Airius, the Wind Nation, in this war against the Shadows.

Tristanin was born and raised in Airius, and hasn't been to any other nations before his journey to the temple. Airius itself is a very interesting nation. It rests not on the ground (as there is none), but is raised on legless platforms high in the clouds. A powerful current gusts to the heavens, as well as the gate to the city of pearl and gold. Airius is unique, also, in the fact that its inhabitants are not fully elementals. This nation is split nearly down the middle with Wind Elementals, as well as Angels. The Angels provide greater numbers (as the elementals themselves are the lowest in numbers of all the nations), as well as protection. They very rarely meddle in elemental affairs, and few have even been to the ground where the other nations lay. It is not very well known that Angels cohabitate with the Wind Elementals, and they prefer it that way. No other Elemental has ever been through Airius' gates, and Airians only travel below if absolutely necessary, since they are completely self-efficient and don't need anything from the outside nations. Shadows have been to the very edge of the giant gust, but have yet to conquer its magical properties so they could invade Airius. Besides finding a way to get up there, they would have very suspicious Angel and Elemental guards to deal with, that is, unless they were with an Elemental or Angel of course.

Airius is the smallest nation in numbers, as stated previously, and its area resembles its numbers. It has just one large town, Vento Navin, named after the first Wind God, Vento, and the first Angel, Navin, so the legend goes. Smaller towns branch off of Vento Navin, but the majority of the bustle is held in the capitol, which is also where both the Wind-Waker Royal Court, and the High Priests and Priestesses of the Angels reside. Angels and Wind Elementals have been living together in peace for hundreds of years. They will defend each other if necessary, because without one, the other couldn't exist. However, just one rule between them never changed. The bloodlines must remain pure.

As generations continued, Angels and Wakers followed the law set forth when Vento and Navin pulled the two species together as one Nation. For an Angel to create a hybrid with a Wind Elemental is forbidden, and would certainly be punished with death for all those involved. To this day, nobody believes the line has ever been crossed. However, just because they don't believe it, doesn't mean it hasn't happened.

Twenty-four years ago, Tristanin is what happened. Tristanin's father, Darius, is the sole King of Airius, and has been for many years. The Wind-Wakers run on a monarchy and are quite content with that, as Darius has been a good king. Darius, like many other royals, produced many offspring. However, his queen never conceived a son to inherit the throne. And thus, Darius committed the ultimate crimes; adultery, and crossing his blood lines with an Angel. His mistress did conceive and had Tristanin, undercover of course. The shock of a winged child whom wasn't even her own sent the Queen to a surprising, untimely death.

The mistress Angel fled to one of the few less populated areas off of Vento Navin and was never heard from again. And Tristanin? Darius knew he could get away with the crime if there was no evidence. Tristanin was born with the unmistakable wings of an Angel, and yet he controlled the air just like a Wind elemental. Darius was in a predicament. He needed an heir to the throne, and now had no queen. One day once Tristanin was a year old (he had been raised in private all that time), Darius took a dagger, held his son down, and sawed off Tristanin's beautiful, feathery, white, pure wings. To this day, two scars run the length of Tristanin's back, and even though he was just an infant, he remembers that event. More than anything, Tristanin wants his wings back, but he must give and receive the love from a pure Angel (one who has loved no other) for them to sprout once again.

Not wanting his secret to get out, Darius forbid Tristanin to ever speak to Angels. Once he was seventeen, Darius finally told Tristanin the truth, even though his son had known since the incident and put two and two together. Now, Tristanin was free to do as he pleased, but he continued to avoid Angels as much as he could, because even though he so desperately wanted his wings, the Airians would have his father's crown (and his head to go with it) if they ever found out.

Now that Darius is a feeble, old man, Tristanin doesn't have the heart to have his father's life taken from him, especially after everything he's done for Airius. Tristanin's father has been training him for the throne someday, as he is still his only son. They have a close bond, but Tristanin hasn't ever done anything miraculous to solidify him into the position of heir. Sending him on this mission to the temple was both practical for Darius, who was very weak, and would offer the final test to see if Tristanin was ready for his father to ascend even further up into the clouds and take the crown.

It was easy for most Airians to travel, as they can simply jump into the wind and direct it where they please, but Tristanin took the long way to the temple. One of the first Airians to set foot on wild soil outside of common city-ways in other nations, he had been enjoying it thus far. Tristanin is typically adorned in navy pants, a white, somewhat tightly fitting sleeved shirt, and a cape resembling the Airian flag. He never wore shoes, though, just like the other Airians. Airius was a wealthy, clean nation. Shoes were a new idea to Tristanin, and he found them rather comical. The base color of his cape was navy, but a white twisted swirl of wind rippled along the bottom, and a gold wing sparkled above the trails of wind. An identical wing pendant fastens the cape over his left shoulder. The cape interestingly enough is always swaying and curling, as if constantly hanging in the wind, as is Tristanin's blond hair.

His hair is often slightly messy, it in an almost "medieval faux hawk." The locks of hair around his ears curl slightly in their own wings. Sky blue eyes contrast his outfit nicely, and compliment his hair color. Like any descendent of a god, Tristanin inherited great power, as well as attractive physique. A prince like him would almost certainly be married, or at least engaged by his age. However, Tristanin plans to wait until he is given his father's throne, to then he will work to change the cross laws, and will find himself a young angel, both fulfilling his desire for love and for his body the way it used to be.

As masters of the air, Wind elementals can often times manipulate the weather as well. However, they are most certainly trained in other areas of weaponry, not just out of bare necessity, but out of sport. The ivory hilt of a sword was nearly always poking up from Tristanin's golden belt, its sheath encrusted with sapphires and diamonds. The sword itself was of the finest craftsmanship, said to be handed down from king to king. However, the sword Tristanin so proudly carried was rarely used. Tristanin's weapon of choice was a bow and arrow. A pearl bow trapped string said to be made of gold, which has never, and as far as the crafter says, will never break. White feathers aided the arrows in their aerial flight, although as an air manipulator, it isn't difficult for Tristanin to decide the direction of his arrows, even changing them in mid-flight. He has a decent hand at archery, but has yet to use it for anything more practical than training.

Between is inbound personality and the life he's lived, Tristanin's attitude resembled one whose lair is the Fire nation much more than the calm, peaceful Wind-Wakers, as they were usually portrayed. He can be quick to make decisions, but does have loyalty in his heart. He wants to make the right decisions, but simply doesn't have the patience of a king like his father, who has traveled many miles and dealt with issues like war, famine, and for the past few years, finally peace. Tristanin is a natural at physical combat, and often times mistakes that as to how to win a war. He definitely has some good ideas, and his heart is in the right place. He believes strongly in action, and often times gets frustrated if things are taking too long. He is more often than not the one at the meeting coming up with a "quick fix" for a problem, which can land him in his own toils, but it can also be beneficial to have a rash, down-to-earth (ironically enough) thinker. Tristanin has a lot to prove, but lucky for him, he has all the potential in the world to be as great, and quite possibly greater, than his father, the legendary, King Darius.
