A puff of pink powder ... A spray of sickly, strong perfume ... The glimmer of satin ribbons. She is indeed a beauty queen.

As the lights dim and voices hush, the soft sound of well-polished trotters echoes rythmically throughout the area. The gentle clinking of assorted pink beads can be heard alongside the rustle of silver hair which is restrained, in vain, by various bows.

How do I look?" A low, sultry voice purrs. A quick smile and cheeky wink signal that she needs no response. Her dull, blue eyes are alight, but share no warmth, contrasting starkly to her rosy eyeshadow. She is a creature of self-satisfied solitude, independently elected a cut above the rest.

Laneicse," she croons, extending out a manicured trotter. She does not wait to hear your name.

I suppose you're hear to learn more about me." The small creature remarks half-heartedly. "I can't say I blame you," she adds with the faintest flutter of her mascara-soaked lashes.

My name is Laur, and I live on this happy island of marsupials and spiders known more formally as 'Australia'. My main account is Deriance, but most of my beloved roleplay characters are housed on side accounts (Deriances, Deriancist and Deriancess).

I love to doodle and roleplay as often as possible. A gallery of my art can be found at deriance.deviantart.com, and I am an admin member of the extremely large an active offsite roleplay society, The Heartbreakers Club (http://www.neopets.com/~cocaporii).

I first starting playing neopets on October 22, 2002. Er, I admit that I wasn't exactly "active" for many of those months, but in the last year or so I have been on neopets usually at least 3 or 4 times a week. Both times that I tried to place in the Beauty Contest my pets (two peophin lads) were awarded trophies; Sciros came second on Dec 02, 2005 and Nokom came third on Jan 20, 2006. I hope to enter Laneicse and win gold with her more than once ;)

A dominant and (seemingly) confident personality, Filuah possesses an overwhelming dark sense of humour. Though not 'unkind' by nature, she will seize any opportunity to spill out dry comments and gently tease anyone who stays still too long. This is merely because of her own inability to allow herself to get too serious or attached to the world around her, possibly a result of her brother Nokom's prior desertion.




Highly strung, though not independant. More simply, Nellaii follows her heart but sometimes lacks confidence. She is easily unnerved, simply because she does not have the patience to learn the ways of the world - she is left naive. She is almost the personification of innocent (or naivety) and kind-heartedness (or... naivety), always optimistic and enthusiastic to make new friends and lend a hoof.




The typical exotic, handsome prince - nearly. Although he was well educated and rather spoilt in his home palace, Sciros longed for adventure and excitement that his sheltered life could not provide him. Perhaps because he was spoilt, or perhaps because he always followed his heart, the young prince ran away in a dramatic escape and has since undergone a plethora of adventures with his dear Aly.




What can I say? Nokom's a gleeful, cryptic telepath and mind-manipulator. He enjoys just about everything the world has to offer, appreciating it for what it is and how it entwines with the rest of it, and is quite partial to discovering odd bits and bobs to hang like trophies from his antlers. Unfortunately his rather 'unique' take on life and the universe means that he's not always the easiest to spend time with. Although he would never intentionally upset anyone, or anything, he has little regard for 'personal space' as far as his mind reading and speaking is concerned, and he even abandoned his own sister, Filuah - then one day, out of the blue, he came back with only the explanation, "nothing's wrong unless you want it to be" and some ugly flower he picked because "he knew she would appreciate it."




Abandoned by his immortal herd as a colt for his carnivorous (more specifically, 'cannibalistic') nature, Sahvij now haunts desolate mountain peaks in hope of once again returning 'home'. His insecurities from both being abandoned and 'monstrous' have led him to become violent and occasionally ruthless, though his new 'friends' are defiant not to give up on him, no matter how much he may unnerve them.




Everyone makes mistakes, though rarely are they as malevolent and unforgiveable as Lastrond's. A voodooist and power-hungry, his desire to please his evil 'superiors' turned disasterous when he reached a terrifying peak of success with victims the higher ones wanted 'dealt with'. Now plagued by guilt and remorse, he lives in constant fear of Karma acting out - and can not silence the voices of victims in his head.




Always quick to crack a joke or dive headfirst into a pond, Safaah is the most light-hearted and playful of her sisters. She is just as quick to laugh as herself as anyone else, though she often gets herself into trouble for it. Her jocular spirit also usually results in her missing the point of certain tasks and she is rarely ever punctual (much to Tiyrra's annoyance).




Tiyrra was blessed with the ability to see the aesthetic beauty in the world around - including in herself. She delights in sitting for hours watching the sun set or the waves lap against the shore; providing, of course, that the wind ruffles her coat in only the most flattering of manners and the shade of the lush grass below compliments her eyes.




Fiori was born with the power to heal, though to do this she needs to pull 'life' from the surrounding environment. Confused and disturbed by the outcomes of her bad decisions related to this power in the past, and never really knows how to behave in social situations. As a result of this she has become twisted and disoriented - somewhat 'bipolar'. One can only hope that new friends can help guide her onto a brighter path.

Very little light makes it into the very bottom of the city's slumbs. The resident overpopulated and malnourised community of plebs had to make do with cheap housing and limited space. Interweaving, makeshift roofs and shelters were packed so closely together that not even the rain could wash the streets clean.

Throughout the maze of small, dirty allyways and terraces one young moehog made her home. With nowhere to go, and nothing to do, she spent the most of her childhood years mastering the arts of thievery and manipulation - both of which were needed to survive her solitary, impoverished life. She gained a sharp tongue and a heavy layer of self-confidence; a combination which would keep even the roughest of thugs from messing with her.

Still, she had no food and no purpose. She was merely living out her years, yearning for the moments of a discarded meal or a generous passer by. Her life was as dark and dirty as the slums themself.

What she needed was to brighten the place up a bit.

After scrounging around in many rubbish bins she collected many fine strips of material. A lucky snatch from a noblewoman's coat resulted in a prize of several beaded chains. Crafting her new acquisitions to her fancy, she tied her messy, stiff mane of silver hair into baby-pink bows, and draped her neck and back legs with jewellery before lavishing a thick, hearty bow on the base of her tail.

She would make herself a star, and these plebs would reward her for it...

Either a pink angelpuss, gathow or magaral. Whichever way, because I have such a fettish for creating designs and characters, it will be an irritable-looking creature which Laneicse has dolled up with a sickening number of bows and possibly a little jumper or tiara...

If she ends up with the doglefox or spardle the poor creature may end up a lot like one of those little chihuahuas that gets carried around in handbags... But with an ugly -disallowed_word-deriance). I have known this girl for over a year now, and still today she remains my best of friends on Neopets and Stalking Grounds (equine role-playing site).
Her artwork is impeccable, something that I shall never be able to accomplish, and her role-playing literacy exceeds that of many I have role-played wiht. And believe me, when I have been role-playing for years now, that is saying quite a bit. I know a responsible and loyal person when I see one, and Laur is one of those people. Never will you come across someone more in touch with other people's feelings and sympathy and love and friendly aura. She, unlike many, can remain optimistic, even when all but one of her accounts got frozen. Never have I heard of anything more devasting, but with help of me and all her other friends, she pulled through. How many other people can say that all of their friends on a role-playing site rushed to their help when a crisis happened? Not many, that I can assure you, and that only proves how easy it is to love this girl.
She has a better personality I ever wish to possess, and you will not regret in the giving of your beloved pet to her. I do not write this because I feel it is my duty; I write it because I feel I am just in all my assumptions. I do not write this because she is just my friend; I write this because she really is your best choice. Nor do I write this because I have been bribed; Laur would never cheat so shamelessly. She is the ideal owner for your pet, and I bid you to make the right decision, and choose Laur for the owner. To Whom it may concern:
It has recently come to my attention that my dear friend Laur is applying for Laneicse, your fantastic tyrannian moehog. I wish I could describe to you in this one simple recommendation all the reasons why Laur would make the perfect owner for your pet. You are probably already aware of most of the reasons... she is an awesome artist who is able to maintain her unique, amazing style and apply it to many different types of pets. That is one sign of a good artist, but I don't need to explain that to you. Because of this, I can vouch for the fact that Laneicse will be in as many Beauty Contests as possible (except, of course, when she is banned for getting first!)
Laur is also a great roleplayer. This I know from personal experience and can vouch for her amazing talent at being able to develop and maintain such great characters. She is kind and sensitive, but is also able to see through the eyes of her more complicated characters as well and play the part with pizazz. It is because of this I am sure your moehog would not be lonely and without friends... who could help but love such a beautiful, well developed character? But I would never expect anything less from Laur.
I don't want to keep you any longer than I already have, though there are still so many things I could say about this potential owner for Laneicse. I can, however, offer you a unique insight into Laur that you might not find anywhere else. You see, I have also chosen to give her one of my pets when she was up for adoption. Laur is now the owner of Fiori the Mutant Draik, and I still hold it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Fiori is now getting the proper attention I was unable to give, complete with a petpage, a marvelous design, and an amazing character. If you decide to allow Laur to adopt your moehog, you can bet you won't be disappointed either.

I highly recommend Deriance for Laneicse. I've known her for a while now through her strongly-developed Peophin characters and I know you won't be disappointed with the care and attention Laneicse will receive with Deriance She puts a lot of thought into each of her characters and is probably one of the most deserving applicants you would see.

Laur is an amazing gal, trust me I know. I've known her for a long time now, and I love her to death. I can't even think of anyone better to adopt Laneicse than Laur. Why? She's an amazing artist, trustworthy, caring, and nice. There's no doubt in my mind, she'll win the beauty contest with Laneicse. She's also an amazing roleplayer, who I envy dearly. I'd do anything for Laur, that's how much I love her. She's the best choice you'll ever make.

I believe Deriance is truly deserving to be the next owner of Laneicse. I've known her for a while and it has been proven that she's an active roleplayer with a huuge imagination and capacity, meaning that Laneicse will *always* be original, loved, and cared for. The reason Deriance only has a few characters compared to some other Neopian players I know who have over 20 different characters is that she pays special attention to each and every one of them, and so will Laneicse if you choose Deriance to be her next owner.
