Introduction
Welcome, guest, to Pattyellen's Neopoint Earning Guide V1.1!
If you have any questions, comments, or corrections regarding this page, please do not hesitate to Neomail me.
So, let's start out this guide with a wonderfully clichéd rhetorical question: Do you want to earn neopoints? Of course you do. That's why you're here, I'd assume. The purpose of this guide is to help guide you along a path to making millions as easily as possible by utilizing four main techniques: Games, Restocking, Essentials, Smart Shopping, and, of course, Dailies.
But what makes this guide different from others? I've designed my Neopoint Earning Guide to be less structured than many of the wildly popular "X Amount of NP in X Days" guides. I wanted to create a practical guide that can be followed by someone who doesn't have hours and hours of freetime to spare, and a plan that allows for a user's own customization. Pattyellen's Neopoint Guide is meant to teach you the basics of some methods I find to be the most effective, and to let you tailor the rest to what best fits your time and personal preferences.
But before we jump in, there's some important vocabulary you need to become familiar with.
Vocabulary
K: 1,000. As in, 5K = 5,000
NP: Neopoint. As in, 350 NP = 350 Neopoints
M or Mil: Million. As in, 5M/5 Mil = 5 Million
UB: Unbuyable. This means that an item is worth over 100,000 NP.
R #: Rarity Index. As in, R99 = Rarity Index 99. Typically, the higher the number, the rarer the item in question.
ETS: Easy to sell. As in, "Codestones are ETS" = "Codestones are easy to sell
HTS: Hard to sell. As in, "TCGs are HTS" = "TCGs are hard to sell
RS: Restock. As in, "I RS at Spooky Foods" = "I restock at Spooky Foods
It can also be used as a noun, as in, "When was the last RS?" = "When was the last restock?"
Now that we've got the basic jargon covered, we can move on to our first topic: the essentials.
Essentials
As a Neopian, there are some tools that you can use that are absolutely essential to your success – hence, the name "essentials". They are as follows:
1. The Bank
2. Your Inventory
3. Your Shop
4. The Shop Wizard
5. The Trading Post
|| The Bank ||
You don't need to purchase a bank account per se, but it does require a small deposit to start out with (and no, your occupation doesn't matter). Once you have your account, make sure to collect your interest every day because it does add up.
The Bank is vital because your neopoints are securely tucked away, safe from those nasty Random Events!
|| Your Inventory ||
Whenever you acquire an item, it goes directly to your inventory. From there, you're able to do certain things with that item, such as put it in your shop or your Safety Deposit Box. For large quantities of items, the Quick Stock feature can be a real timesaver.
|| Your Shop ||
To be able to use your shop, you first need to purchase it for 150 NP. Additionally, you might want to upgrade it as you find you need more room to sell items, but be careful, because it can get expensive quickly. You can do both of these things by clicking the Create/Edit Shop link.
Once you've bought your shop, you have the option of putting things from your inventory into it to sell, which is a key element in restocking and reselling. However, the maximum price that you can sell something is 99,999 NPs.
|| The Shop Wizard ||
The Shop Wizard is an element of Neopets that goes hand in hand with your Shop. It allows you to search the current prices of an item in other users' shops to help you figure out how much to sell it for. Too many searches can cause the Shop Wizard to give you an error message and ask you to come back 20 minutes later, so be wary.
|| The Trading Post ||
It requires no money to use, and allows you to sell items that are worth over 100,000 NP. And, as the name suggests, you don't directly purchase items from users there, but rather you trade with them, placing offers on items they have. These offers can also include items, a feature that shops lack.
The Trading Post also has a search option that functions like the Shop Wizard, but for trades.
In Summary…
You can take out Neopoints from your Bank Account to buy items from shops that go to your Inventory, from which you can place them in your Shop. You can then use the Shop Wizard to decide how much you want to sell them for, and if they're over 100 K, you can put them in the Trading Post.
Armed with information about these essential options, we can now move on to actually Earning Neopoints, what I know you all came here for. On to the first method...
