Commonly asked questions

• What is an avatar? and how do I display it?

• An avatar is a little picture that sits to the left of your message when you chat on the neoboards or guild boards, along with your user name etc. If someone types your ul into the search box and looks you up they will also see a picture of the avatar you are currently using. To choose an avatar go to chat preferences, then, in the top box there is a drop down menu listing all the avatars you have collected. The little picture on the left is the avatar you are currently displaying, scroll through the list of avatars and choose the one you want to display (you can see what it looks like in the preview on the right). Once you have chosen go down to the bottom of the page and click "submit". You are now displaying your chosen avatar! Everyone starts with 54 default avatars, but there are lots of "secret" ones to collect to get started on collecting the secret avatars go here.

 

Items

• I saw an MSPP(TCG) in someone's shop for 100000np, I can afford to buy it but it wouldn't let me, why?

  • Items priced at 100000np or over cannot be purchased from another players shop. Often the item is worth much more than the price it is listed for or it may be part of a collection like a gallery. The first step is to check the shop wizard thoroughly, refresh it several times so different shops are displayed. If you can only find the item you want for 100000† np then search the trading post. If there is only one listing for the item you want it's probably worth asking on the neoboards if this is a sensible price before you hand over all your neopoints for an over-priced trade. If your item has several listings then you can get a reasonable idea of it's value and you can start saving up ;) At the time of writing (Dec 04), MSPP (TCG)'s are worth around 6million np and Bony Grarrl Clubs are worth 20 million np's !

 

• Someone on the boards said a Chokato (TCG) was worth 200k, what does k mean?

• k is another way of saying 1000. So 1k=1000, 5k=5000, 10k=10000 etc. 200k would be 200000nps.

• I've found an icy snowflake in the trading post for 250k, but it said "pure preferred", what does pure mean?

• when people ask for pure they want pure neopoints rather than items or a mixture of items and neopints for their trade. Basically they want you to pay in full in cash!

Note: if you have an angelpuss attached to one of your pets and you're trying to get another petpet avatar on another pet, the angelpuss may prevent you from getting the other petpet avatar. I don't know why this happens (I think it's probably because angelpii like to be the centre of attention!) Remove the angelpuss and put it in your SDB then go for the other petpet av's. You can put the angelpuss back when you've got them :)

Battledome and War

• All my one-player challengers have dissappeared :( Is it because of the war?

Yes, they won't show up on the page again until the war's over :( You can still fight them though. Go to one player battledome, select your fighting pet then clear the address box at the top of the page (where it says www.neopets etc) and type in -blocked-:MakeOnePlayerChallenge(??) replace the question marks with the number that corresponds to the challenger you wish to fight, and load the page. For a complete list of -blocked-s for all the one player challengers go here. I've included the -blocked- for all the avatar related challengers in the text boxes above.
