Chapter 1
The small little bat opened her eyes for the first time. She was floating inside of a tall, glass tube filled with some sort of fluid. Wires tipped with suction cups were attached to various parts of her anatomy.

Her lungs were screaming for air, but she refused to take a breath. Instinct told her that it was impossible to breathe while surrounded by this much fluid. Soon, she couldn't stand it any longer, and she breathed. Suprisingly, air entered her lungs instead of fluid. Why didn't she drown?

That was when she noticed the air mask covering her mouth. It was connected to some sort of hose which seemed to go outside of the glass tube.

."So, you're awake?" A voice said. The bat looked down and saw a brown, muscular-looking lupe. His tail wagged as he said "My name's Poncho. I work here at this laboratory. It's a pleasure to meet you."

."PONCHO!" Somebody shouted. "What are you doing!? You're supposed to be on guard duty!"

."Sorry, I'm coming!" Poncho hollered back. Before he left the room, he looked back at the bat and said "Goodbye. Maybe I'll see you later."

Suddenly, the bat felt sleepy, and she drifted off to sleep.

Chapter 2
When she woke up again, she was no longer in the glass tube. She was stretched out on a cold, metal table. She was strapped down, so she couldn't move around much.

."The cloning process was a success!" A tall figure exclaimed. "She's an exact replica of the bat from which she was cloned. But not for long..."

Then the small bat saw him pull out a long needle filled with some sort of blue liquid. The bat winced as the needle suddenly poked into her arm. Suddenly, a strange sensation came over her. Her muscles buldged, claws sprouted from her paws, and plates popped out along her back. It filled her whole body with pain, and the bat shrieked loudly until it finally subsided.

Then, she passed out.

When the bat woke up, she was inside a cage. A tag that read "#0003" was clipped to her ear. She looked down and noticed that the floor of the cage was lined with dirt. She smelled food, but where was it?.

Suddenly, an instinct kicked in, and she started digging into the dirt. She eventually dug up a canister filled with food pellets. She cracked it open and ate her first meal.

."Excellent!.". The scientist thought to himself as he watch the little bori-bat. ."She managed to dig up her food. She really is part-bori now.".

Chapter 3
After some more tests, the bori-bat was put in a different cagge to rest.

."You've changed since I saw you last." He chuckled "You have plates and claws. Did it hurt when you got them? Well, if it did, you just learn how to endure it. If you learn to do that when he does other tests on you, you'll do just fine."

The bori-bat followed Poncho's advice. Whatever test that the scientist performed on her, she learned to endure it.

As time passed, she learned to recognise her daily routine. In the morning, she would be taken out of her cage and be fed. Then the scientist would perform tests on her. Then she would be fed again, have more tests performed on her, and then she would go back in her cage.

The bori-bat wasn't the only experment in the lab, however. In the cage on her left was an aisha, had the wings and tail of a pteri after a first experiment.

A gelert was in the cage on her right. When she was big enough, the scientist took her out of her tube. And a couple painfull howls later, she was placed in a cage with the fur and claws of a lutari. The scientist had made her the unofficial 'mascot' of the experiments.

Chapter 4
One day, the scientist decided to 'enhance' his test subjects. He wanted to increase their strength and intelligence.

He decided to enhance the lutargelert first. He gave her an injection then placed her back in her cage. He decided not to perform any more tests on her until he saw changes in her stats. The next morning, there was an improvement. Her muscles had grown larger. A test later revealed that her strength and intelligence had in fact doubled.

With each injection, the lutargelert's stats grew in number. Eventually, her appearence changed too. The injections transmogrified her appearence and her increase in muscle mass made her larger as well. This soon became a problem because she soon became too big for her small cage. So the scientist decided to keep her in an enclosure with his lupes and gelerts, at least until he could construct a bigger tube.

He decided to wait a little longer before he could enhance the bori-bat. Out of all the other experiments, she was one of his favorites.

Chapter 4
Even though he was busy most of the time, Poncho the lupe would still sometimes visit the bori-bat.

."Your friend the lutargelert is doing well with us." He told her. "It must feel good for her to get out of that cramped cage and take a break from those tests. Plus, she's getting along VERY well with one of my packmates."

."But she's only staying with us temporarily. At least until my master builds a bigger cage for her. By the way, it must feel cozy in there, huh?"

The bori-bat simply tilted her head.

Eventually, the scientist finished making a new cage for the lutargelert. But that day, he noticed something different. Her behavior and eating habits had changed. He decided to perform some tests on her to figure out why.

Eventually he discovered some exciting news. The lutargelert was going to be a mother! The father was any one of the lupes and gelerts he had in the enclosure with her. He decided to keep a very close eye on her for the next couple of weeks.

Chapter 5
."Did you hear the news?" Poncho told the bori-bat. "The lutargelert is going to have pups! My master is very excited about it because he says this will be his first batch of hybrid pets that have been born naturally instead of cloned."

One night, while the bori-bat was falling asleep in her cage, she suddenly heard a voice call out to her.

."...Why? Why does he do these things to us?".

."Who said that?". The bori-bat thought to herself.

."It is I, the lutargelert.". The voice answered. ."Those experiments he performed on me somehow gave me this ability to talk to others with my mind.".

."Who?".

."That scientist. I often wonder why he does those experiments on us. I was beautifull until he 'enhanced' me. I actually enjoyed my brief time outside of my cage with those lupes and gelerts. I even fell in love with one of them. But then he had to spoil it by putting me back in a cage.

The bori-bat thought nothing.

."As for my pups, they shouldn't deserve a life like this. They deserve to be out there, where they're free.".

."What's it like out there?". The bori-bat asked.

Before she could answer, the lutargelert suddenly started groaning and rolling around uncomfortably in her cage.

."What's wrong?".

."Uggghhh...I don't know. I'm suddenly hurting...Uggghhh!!!".

It wasn't long before the scientist took notice of the lutargelert's discomfort. He immediately removed her from her cage and rushed her into another room.

."Ugghh...He'll probably just make things worse.". The lutargelert thought to herself. ."I have to get out of her when I get the chance.".

Inside that room, the scientist was trying to strap the lutargelert down to a table. But it was difficult because she thrashed around constantly, trying to get away.

Eventually, he managed to put a face mask over her muzzle. She suddenly started to calm down a little.

."Just stay calm and try to relax." The scientist told her. He then gave her an injection. "This will help speed things up a little. It'll be over before you know it."

."Again with the injections?". She thought to herself. ."I'll wait for the right opportunity, then use my enhanced strength to escape...Uggghh!". That was when she noticed the pain was coming faster.

Chapter 6
Four pups arrived that night. But the poor lutargelert was very exhausted after the ordeal. The scientist placed her in a special tank that would monitor her as she recovered. As for her five pups, they were cared for by the scientists lupes and gelerts, who quickly accepted them.

After that, the scientist went back to enhancing his hybrid pets. The next one was the pteraisha. With each injection he became smarter and his muscles grew larger. The injections eventually transmogrified his appearence as he grew spikes on his back and sharp claws. He decided to stop there as he didn't want the pteraisha to grow too big.

Although the lutargelert was in a deep sleep inside of her recovery tank, her mind was still active. The bori-bat would occasionally hear her speak to her wit her mind. She told her little friend ."At least my pups are out there, where they are free.".

Eventually the scientist decided to leave his prized bori-bat the way she was. He figured that she was perfect already, and that there was no need to enhance her.

In fact, one day he decided to test a stasis chamber that he built. He wished to see how long the bori-bat would remain dormant in there. So she was taken out of her cage for the last time and put in the chamber.

Being dormant, the bori-bat was unaware of what went on around her. During her long sleep, the lutargelert recovered and eventually escaped with her pups. After that, the laboratory caught fire and most of it was burned.

Sometime after the fire, the bori-bat woke up from her long slumber. But she had been asleep for so long that she had lost most of her memory.

But one day, the bori-bat's life took a turn for the better. A bori showed up and offered to give her a home. She even got a name: Adelaide.
