Kikirua: Out of the Mouth of Babes A Child's Mind. An Adult's Form. A Dark Destiny...

Kikirua STATS: Lvl: 22, HP: 19, Str: 21, Def: 22, Mov: 18, Int: 28. The Usual Story: Once I was just a simple PetPet... then one day I wandered into this Mysterious Cave. It was a pretty hot day and I had been walking for miles, so I was really hungry and tired. I sat down to rest a while and when I awoke, I noticed this strange glow around me. It seemed to be coming from the walls. I moved a little closer and saw it was actually this fungus. I can't explain why, but I just reached up and tore off a piece of fungus and ate it. It tasted really good, like chocolate and honey and marshmallows all rolled into one, so I ate a little more. Before I realised what was happening, I started to feel all tingly and I began to change. I grew taller, spikes appeared along my back, and I actually felt... This is the part of the story that usually says "...and I actually felt smarter." However, this is also the part of Kikirua's story that takes a different turn: Whereas most Krawks eating from the mystical fungus gain wisdom, logic, and intelligence, a tragedy occured before Kikirua could ingest enough... A Tragic Turn: It had been an arduous journey, difficult for any Neopet, let alone a small Krawk PetPet... From the first time she had heard the faerie-tale at bedtime, Kikirua was enthralled: Just imagine, a mysterious cave hidden somewhere in the remote cliffs overlooking Krawk Island -- covered with strange fungus! Legend had it that when a Krawk PetPet ate from the Fungus Cave, it would be magically transformed into a full-fledged Krawk Neopet. The Fungus Cave So, with a child's confidence and determination, Kikirua embarked for a land swimming with cut-throat pirates, buried treasures, and wild adventures. At The Golden Dubloon -- over Limeberry Krawkade and a myriad of swashbuckling sounds -- Kikirua somehow managed to trade an eccentric old Sea Cap'n a Chocolate Chia Truffle and her favorite Green Chomby Plushie, for the secret location of the Fungus Cave. Kikirua reached the Fungus Cave at dusk, with the sun dipping westward below the horizon. Exhausted from the steep climb, she stopped to survey the scene. Already, the cave gave off a wondrously luminescent glow. Rushing in, Kikirua jumped up and down, clapping her hands with glee! Bending toward the rather inanimate Pet Rock that jostled at her side, she shouted "Look, Madge! Can you believe it?! We are going to be grownups!" Just as she scooped up a slippery mass of green fungus and took the tiniest bite, the whole cave burst into flames. Knocked unconcious, Kikirua awoke a few feet below the cave entrance. The once lush cavern lay desolate: Charred, smoldering, and gutted. Looking down, Kikirua was shocked and amazed to find she too was different. Not only was she huge, but her scales had taken on an ashen, firey pattern reminiscent of the narrowly escaped blaze. "Yay! Look at us Madge", she said hugging her Pet Rock, "It worked! We are grownups!... Aren't you just... speechless?!" Kikirua skipped away, laughing carelessly on the way home... Had she arrived earlier, had she only eaten more fungus, the tragedy could have been prevented: A child's mind trapped in an adult's form. Despite her playful attitude, sleep now holds Strange Nightmares. Vague Memories. A Grim Reality, clawing its way to the surface... A Dark Destiny: Kikirua was created by the Fire Faerie as an Avenging Force guised as a PetPet. Once matured, this Cosmic Power would be unleashed upon Neopia... Learning of the PetPet's quest just as Kikirua tasted the fungus, the Fire Faerie cast a spell to scourge the cave and restrain her Avenger, until the Appointed Time. From the small bite of fungus, Kikirua grew, but her mind remained innocent. Her Dark Destiny locked within a child's mind, Kikirua will one day rise in Power to Purge the World... Until then, she plays with plushies and cries for Krawk Cakes. A Secret Conspirator: Determined to thwart Kikirua from all further fungal reconnaissance, the Fire Faerie dispatched Fungus Monger, the Larnikin. With the sole mission of devouring any magical fungus that Kikirua finds, this pseudo-harmless PetPetPet is loyal only to One. A Brief History: Kikirua: Naturally Born Krawk No. 588, Kikirua was created from a Faerie Krawk PetPet on 7th April, 2002. Soon after her birth, she was painted Yellow by her original owner, Klo. Kikirua was then painted Fire by her second owner, Madge (whose name her Pet Rock now bears). On 23rd July, 2004 she found a permanent home with blaizesterling. The Krawk: After being driven from the Tyrannian Jungle and settling on an island about 80 miles south of Mystery Island, the Krawks thrived and were left basically to themselves until the recent pirate settlement. Small and [often] without speech, the Krawks were once taken as PetPets by the Neopets. Pirate smugglers noted the strange caves that stood on the northwest edge of the island, but aside from the fungus growing all over the walls, there appeared to be nothing of interest in the damp, chilly caves. That is, until it was discovered that the fungus had a unique effect on the Krawks.
