You are walking from Shenkuu to Altador. As you walk through the vast fields between the two cities, you notice a path that leads to a forest. Remembering that poem called "The Road Less Traveled", you decide to go down that path.
."Welcome.".
You look up and see a xweetok, lying stretched out on a branch. You wave and say "Hi. I'm guest."
The xweetok jumps off of the branch and says. "Hello to you, too. I'm Kinka. I'm glad you're here. This forest doesn't get many visitors...I wonder why that is?" Then a rusty-looking Griefer, possibly his petpet, emerges from the bushes. "Would you care to walk with us?" Kinka asks. You nod, and you follow him as he leads you through the forest.

The clan was lead by a pair of xweetoks named Frost and Hazel. Life was perfect in the valley, until one day...
That was the day construction for Happy Valley began. At first, the clan didn't seem too worried about the large bulldozers and other construction equipment that suddenly appeared on their land. But when a bulldozer destroyed an occupied burrow and killed the inhabitants, the Chirka Clan realized that their home was in danger and they had to do something.
Frost and his troop of winged xweetoks tried a direct assault on the construction workers, but that resulted in two xweetoks getting killed and three sustaining several injuries. Frost was the only one without a single scratch. They fought back, and lost.
Chapter 2
After that failed assault, traps were set up in and around the construction site. Any xweetok that got caught in one was doomed to be exterminated.
Frost and Hazel were at a total loss. They couldn't go to live in the Ice Caves, due to the lack of reliable food sources. Terror Mountain Peak was also out of the question. The high altitude and freezing temperatures meant that only creatures adapted to live such a life (such as Wooly Tonus) could survive there.
Chapter 3
As the construction for Happy Valley continued, the Chirka Clan's food supply was beginning to shrink. Soon, the xweetoks were forced to fight amongst themselves for food and living space. Even Frost was forced to take food from the weaker members of the group.
The clan's population was also beginning to dwindle. When they fought for food and living space, some xweetoks (usually the weaker or older ones) were actually killed. Some clan members left in small splinter-groups, seeking food and territory in other places. A lot of them never came back, however.
The following spring, a new generation of xweetoks -including Frost's son, Kinka- were born in the clan. This baby boom soon became a problem, as there were now more hungry mouths to feed, which made things more difficult and caused the xweetoks to fight amongst themselves even more. Even some of the kits were killed in the process. But not Kinka. Hazel protected him very well.
As the years passed, the Chirka Clan continued to lose more members.
One day, Frost was forced to take drastic measures to ensure that his clan would survive. It was risky, but he knew it was absolutely nessesary.
Chapter 4
Frost decided to steal food from the humans who had settled in Happy Valley. He knew this was the only way to ensure the survival of his clan, which was now down to less than 20 members.
Despite the huge risk they were taking, the Chirka Clan enjoyed most of the food they took from the humans. Kinka, however, didn't like the idea of stealing their food. One day, he asked Frost "Father, isn't stealing wrong?"
."Well, son." He replied. "Technically, it is."
."Then why are we stealing food from the humans?"
."Because you and I both know it's the only way we can survive now. After all, they forced us to do this."
."I know that. But it's still wrong to steal. Even if it means not dying from starvation."
."We're done discussing this. Now eat your sandwich before someone else does."
**********
The Chirka Clan did suprisingly well living off of the food they stole from the humans. They thrived for a short time, until the humans decided to get rid of those theives once and for all...
Chapter 5
They decided to get rid of the alpha male first. He was the one who lead the raids, after all.
First, Kinka was captured by the humans. Having no idea what was going on, Kinka frantically cried for help. Then, he saw his father coming to his aid.
Kinka also noticed a man with a gun hiding in the bushes. It was at that moment when Kinka realised that this might be a trap.
."Father, wait!" Kinka called out. "I think it's a trap!" But Frost ignored him and opened the cage that Kinka was trapped in. Kinka darted towards the woods. Shortly afterwards, the man with the gun shot at Frost...
The bullet only managed to hit Frost's left hind leg. Frost collapsed for a moment, then continued to run away despite the pain he felt. The man decided not to fire again, knowing that Frost would soon die anyway. The bullet he used had been dipped in poison.
Chapter 6
After that, the remaining members of the Chirka Clan were found by the humans in a large Snowflake Tree where they lived. Every single one of them (including Hazel) were captured and taken to a facility where they were to be 'humanely disposed of'.
None of them were ever seen again.
Meanwhile, in the woods, Frost was having a hard time keeping up with Kinka. Eventually, he collapsed in the snow.
."Father!" Kinka cried out. "Are you okay?"
."Kinka..." Frost whispered. "I'm afraid that our clan...won't last much longer. You must...leave this place...and establish a new one...And try not to...make the same mistakes...that I did."
Kinka watched sadly as his father's eyes closed for the last time.
He then headed back to the Snowflake Tree, only to find it chopped down and the clan gone. He saw footprints scattered in the snow, implying that the humans had been here.
There was now nothing left for him to do, but move on.
Chapter 7
Kinka decided to go far away from Happy Valley. It held too many memories, good and bad. (Mostly bad.)
He headed south, swimming across icy waters until he made it to Shenkuu. When Kinka saw how many buildings and stores there were, he wondered if any wild xweetoks lived nearby. If so, they probably had a clan that Kinka could join.
Sadly, there were none. But Kinka was relieved to see that there were no traps. Kinka decided to head further south, but before he did, he found a small bird-like creature inside a trashcan. It was made of metal, and it was covered with a couple rust spots. There were also some spots where the yellow paint was chipping off. There were some letters printed on the side, but Kinka could only make out "ORBI".
Not wanting to leave Orby alone, Kinka decided to let him come with him. After all, he could use a travel companion in this tough time.
One night, as Kinka and Orby were about to go to sleep, he thought he heard a familiar voice calling his name.
."Kinka...Kinka.".
He looked up at the stars. At first he thought his mind was playing tricks on him, but he thought he saw the stars take the shape of...Hazel!
."Kinka.". She called out. ."Remember what your father told you. Establish a new clan.".
."How did you know that, Mother?" Kinka asked. "Only Father told me that."
."I know this because...your father is up here...with me.".
Then the stars beside her took the shape of Frost.
."Kinka, my son.". He called out. ."Never forget what I told you.".
."I know, Father. I'll start searching for other xweetoks first thing in the morning!".
."Very good. We love you, son.".
."I love you, too...Father and Mother."
Chapter 8
The very next morning, Kinka started his search for other xweetoks. He and Orby decided to look in a large forest he had stumbled upon. He was certain that other xweetoks were living there.
He spent several hours searchng the woods. He was beginning to think there weren't any xweetoks here, but then he heard someone crying.
He followed the sound and found a female xweetok lying in the dirt. Concerned, Kinka approached her.
."Um, excuse me. Are you okay?" Kinka asked. The female xweetok looked up and her eyes locked with his. "I said are you okay?" He repeated.
She wiped a tear from the corner of my eye and said. "I'm fine, I think. I guess I just got lost."
Uncertain if this xweetok wanted to join Kinka, he asked "Then could I help you find your way home? Where do you live?"
."Nowhere...Not anymore. It's kinda complicated."
."Then would you care to stay with me?"
."...Yes. That would be nice." The xweetok then rose to her feet and walked through the woods with Kinka.
."By the way, I'm Kinka. What's your name?"
."Tosca."
Epilogue
A full year had passed since Kinka had met Tosca. They had both decided to settle down in the woods between Shenkuu and Altador. But Kinka still kept his promise to his late parents. He had established a new clan, and was willing to allow any xweetok to join.
One night, Kinka decided to take a trip down memory lane. Before he left, he looked at Tosca, who was fast asleep. Her belly was swollen, because she was carrying Kinka's first child. Kinka leaned over and kissed her on the forehead, then went off to Happy Valley.
After a couple hours, Kinka had made it to the same valley he was born in. He was amazed at how the valley had hardly changed ever since he left. The humans had set aside small pieces of land for the valley's wildlife. He also noticed that there were no more traps. He even saw yellow "Xweetok Crossing" signs on the side of the road.
And speaking of xweetoks, some small splinter groups had settled down in the valley. Kinka faintly recognised some of them as members of his old clan who left long ago. Thinking that they might not recognise him, Kinka left them alone.
Kinka went to the place where his old home once stood. The snowflake tree he was born in had been cut down long ago. But Kinka noticed a small sapling that had been pushing its way through the snow. He smiled, knowing that someday there would be a new snowflake tree where the old one once stood. And maybe someday, a new clan of xweetoks would reside in that very tree.
Knowing this, Kinka happily headed back to the woods, where his clan, Tosca and his soon-to-be-born kit were waiting for him.
The End
Not only that, but she also likes to show me these really funny comics in the Neopian Times.
Anemone
The reason why Anemone's fins look torn up is because when she was young, she almost got eaten by a jetsam, which managed to nip her a bit. Since then, she's been absolutely terrified of jetsams and wouldn't go near one even if you paid her a million neopoints.
Enchanted
Enchanted was adopted from the pound. Before that, she was raised by two lupes who found her as a young fawn. As a result, she sometimes acts like a lupe and she has a taste for meat.
Kayley
My playfull kit. Just like my father, she has wings. The reason why I don't have wings is because that trait skips a generation in my family. Strange, isn't it?
."When I first met her, I didn't know what to think of her at first. She seemed upset about something, and she simply told me that she was lost. That was when I offered to stay with me. Over time, she began to think of me as more than a friend. And I did the same for her."

4) Pet's lookup URL
Dont forget to follow the rules:
1) None of these pets are for adoption unless the owner says otherwise.
2) Do not beg or harass the owners for neopoints or items. Anyone harassing fellow neopians will be reported to TNT!
3) If you want your xweetok removed, just neomail Sarah.
4) If a xweetok's name (looks like this), this indicates it's one of Sarah's pets. If it's in italic text, this indicates it's an unconverted pet. If it's in crossed-out text this indicates that pet has been frozen.

Customs:
I walked across an empty land
I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete
Oh simple thing, where have you gone?
I'm getting old and I need something to rely on
So tell me when you're gonna let me in
I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin
I came across a fallen tree
I felt the branches of it looking at me
Is this the place we used to love?
Is this the place that I've been dreaming of?
Oh simple thing, where have you gone?
I'm getting old and I need something to rely on
So tell me when you're gonna let me in
I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin
And if you have a minute, why don't we go
Talk about it somewhere only we know?
This could be the end of everything
So why don't we go somewhere only we know?
Somewhere only we know
Oh simple thing, where have you gone?
I'm getting old and I need something to rely on
So tell me when you're gonna let me in
I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin
And if you have a minute, why don't we go
Talk about it somewhere only we know?
This could be the end of everything
So why don't we go? So why don't we go?
Oh, this could be the end of everything
So why don't we go somewhere only we know?
Somewhere only we know
Somewhere only we know
