A human Kunnu laughed with his fellow sailors as they sang in the night, meanwhile working hard on their chores. There was a chill in the air, and they desperately tried to keep their spirits up despite the threat of oncoming winter.
Just one more batch of fish, then we'll head back," the captain had told them earlier that day. "We'll beat this ice, don't worry about that.
So what's waiting for you back home?" asked one of Kunnu's friends. The young man smiled dreamilly.
The love of my life. We're to be married in December.
This statement was followed by a chorus of hearty cheers and congradulations from his fellow sailors. Kunnu grinned, but his smile faded as he looked up at the clear night sky. Orion, a constellation only viewable during the winter, sparkled down on them.
The next evening, there was a terrible groaning sound as the ship was frozen in place. They were stranded.
As months went by, sailors passed on one by one from hunger and sickness. Kunnu held on with all his might, with the hopes that he could return home in the spring to his love.
While he was out roaming for food on the ice and nearby shores, he heard a beautiful singing. Awed, he followed the sound until he found the source: a beautiful water faerie. She smiled gently at him, and he suddenly felt very calm. He must've passed out around that time, because the next thing he knew, he was waking up on the shore, half submerged in icy water. As he tried to stand however, he fell back down clumsilly.
Horror swept through him as he realized what was wrong. His arms had been replaced with hooves. His legs were gone completely, and in their place was a tail fin. Terrified, he gazed into the water nearby, and looking back at him was a gray horse-like creature with fins on either side of his face.
There was another groan; the ice around him started to shatter, and he fell into the water, getting cut but sharp pieces of ice as the fell in around him. He swam away out of instinct, but not without receiving terrible wounds that would leave scars for the rest of his life.

Cold is the Artic sea
Far are your arms from me
Long will this winter be
Frozen in Frobisher Bay
Frozen in Frobisher Bay
One more whale the captain cried
One more whale and we'll beat the ice
But the winter star was in the sky
The seas were rough, the winds were high
Cold is the Artic sea
Far are your arms from me
Long will this winter be
Frozen in Frobisher Bay
Frozen in Frobisher Bay
Deep were the crashing waves
That tore our whaler's mast away
And dark are these sunless days
Waiting for the ice to break
Cold is the Artic sea
Far are your arms from me
Long will this winter be
Frozen in Frobisher Bay
Frozen in Frobisher Bay
Strange is the whaler's fate
To be saved from the raging waves
Only to waste away
Frozen in this lonely grave
Cold is the Artic sea
Far are your arms from me
Long will this winter be
Frozen in Frobisher Bay
