Aboard the Coincidence Guide

WHAT ARE THE ITEMS REQUIRED?

What is this page about?

Hello, joan14121993!

In this guide, you will find a collated list of items that the Coincidence Quest asks for, gathered from Neopians all over Neopia (like youself!). This guide will help you decide what to stockpile for future coincidence quests, rather then donating/discarding them all away.

Items are grouped according to categories. Click on the categories name below to browse. Alternatively, use Ctrl+F to search for a specific item.

Like to contribute to this page?
Drop me a neomail to notify me of items that are left out and the dailies that give out these items. Alternatively, you can post the items you are asked for daily over at the Help Chat Board, where we have an active chat. I also have a link back button you can put on your page to spread the word :)

What is the Coincidence Quest?

The Coincidence Quest is a daily located in Moltara, which you can do once a day. Dr. Landelbrot, the scientist in charge of this will ask you for 3 different items each day in quantities of 1-3. These items are generally items that users can obtain from other dailies around the site. While a large proportion of these items are considered junk, their prices changes every day, and some cost up to 6000NPs++. Always check the Shop Wizard for the updated prices.

You also do not have to complete the quest you are given each day. All you need to do is to cancel the quest and you can come back the next day for another quest (with a new list of items to bring). Important: You cannot accept a new quest until you complete or reject the current one. If you don't want to complete the quest, please remember to reject it so you can get a new quest.

How do I know if the quest is worth doing?

To decide if the quest is worth doing, you need to know what you can get out of it. Jellyneo has quite a comprehensive list of outcomes which you can take a look at here:
http://www.jellyneo.net/?go=coincidence_quests

In summary, here are the list of outcomes that might occur:

Positive outcomes: getting an item, getting NPs, getting lottery tickets, stats increase
Negative outcomes: losing an item, losing NPs, stats decrease
Or: nothing happens (which happens quite frequently)

It's up to you to judge whether the quest is worth doing. Personally, I set a price limit of no more than 3000NPs, rejecting more expensive quests. If you are uncomfortable with spending so much on the quest, you can set a lower price limit. If you are willing to take the risk, then by all means increase or remove any price limit. It also helps to stockpile coincidence items, which saves you time and money. You can always try to shop for items at the Money Tree as well to build up a stash.

Some items are marked as expensive (more than 2000np) or expensive in quantities (more than 1000np) based on past experiences. These are of course subject to price changes in the market, and it would be wise to check on the Shop Wizard, especially those marked 'expensive in quantities'. I don't usually do any quest that requires items marked as 'expensive' and will only do quest that requires items marked as 'expensive in quantities' when I have a considerable stock in my SDB. Sets that ask for more than one 'expensive' or 'expensive in quantities' items are usually rejected immediately.

There are also several items that are marked as prices fluctuate. This indicates that prices skyrocket manyfolds when they are featured in the item sets ('peak season') as compared to an 'offpeak season', when they aren't being asked for (see next paragraph).

As far as I can tell, there appears to be "seasons" in what items are asked for, which are more or less the same (with some variations) between different users on the same day within a certain time range. Our Neoboard chat provides a range of the latest items being asked for. Prices tend to increase when Coincidence starts to ask for them, but will drop back down when they stopped being asked for. Tip: Do continue to stockpile the items even if the quest doesn't ask for them for days, because you never know when they might be asked for again.

Updates

28 August 2016
Added a stats section above, though formatting is till a work in progress. I'm not on Neo everyday now, but I do try to pop by at least once a week and catch the boards for set updates. Again, gentle reminder to reject the items if you don't want to do them, or you will just be stuck with the exact same (terrible) sets until you do so.

Permanent Notice
Since June 2016, Weltrude Toy Chest has been retired as a daily - this might mean that the items from Weltrude Toy Chest will from the Coincidence Quest (and there are A LOT of them), but I'm not sure when, or if they ever will. As of last update, none of the items you can get from the Toy Chest has been appearing in the item sets.

Items not asked for recently

Below is a list of items that the coincidence quest have asked for since it started in 2014, but have not been asked for recently. This list is kindly provided by thunder_mountain (thanks!), and taken from caracol01's gallery(Cara has unfortunately been frozen, and I am unable to determine how recent the list is).

The list is meant for reference, and you can keep a stash of these items if you want to. My suggestion would be to only keep the items that come your way as there are some items that I have never encountered while playing neopets. Any changes to the list will be mentioned in the updates.
