wiz feeding

Set up your tabs: one Kadoatery tab, one-two Shop Wiz tabs. Have your Shop Wiz tabs set to IDENTICAL TO SEARCH with the cursor blinking on the search box (click on the search box). Your tabs from left to right should be in this order: Kadoatery, Shop Wiz 1, Shop Wiz 2. Make sure that you're not on a faerie quest, that you have enough Neopoints on hand, and that you don't have near 50 items in your inventory. When the Kads get hungry (refer to the Games Chat Times & Lists board for times), pick a Kad, highlight (triple-click to select) the item it wants, hit CTRL+C, then CTRL+TAB, then CTRL+V, then enter and this will have generated a search in the Shop Wiz. Buy the item, return to the Kadoatery tab, and click on the Kad you are trying to feed. Repeat with the Shop Wiz 2 tab if you fail to feed.

sdb feeding

Set up one Kadoatery tab and one-two SDB tabs. In the search box of your SDB, choose the category Food, and keep the cursor blinking on the search box (click on the search box). Your tabs from left to right should be in this order: Kadoatery, SDB 1, SDB 2. Remember to unPIN your SDB so that you don't have to type your PIN in. When the Kads get hungry (refer to the Games Chat Times & Lists board for times), pick a Kad, highlight (triple-click to select) the item it wants, hit CTRL+C, then CTRL+TAB, then CTRL+V, then enter and this will have generated a search in your SDB. Click Remove One to remove the item, return to the Kadoatery tab, and click on the Kad you are trying to feed. Repeat with the SDB 2 tab if you fail to feed.

invent feeding

Before main goes, you should have already hit CTRL+F and entered in your food group. For example, if you invent Pizzas, the word you should have in CTRL+F is Pizza. This will highlight any matching foods in the Kadoatery when Kads actually go. Of course, if you have a one-word invent, this doesn't really work. Just learn to spot invent items quickly.

which technique?

Ideally, you should do a mix of all three of these techniques. Why? Invent feeding is especially good for people with slow computers or internet, as you can feed almost instantaneously, but it's definitely a necessity for people feeding just for the avatar as well. SDB feeding is much faster and more convenient than Wiz feeding, however building up a SDB is costly and I'd only recommend it if you plan on overfeeding (feeding more than 75 kads.) I myself invent feed whenever I can, but if not, SDB feed, and in the rare chance I can't do that, Wiz feed.

benefits of sdb feeding

-fewer clicks to feed
-the larger your SDB, the higher percentage of foods per main you own
-you don't have to pay for overpriced foods like you sometimes would while Wiz feeding
-if you're careful about where you buy your food from, there's a lower risk of being CG'ed by going into shops
-if you miss a main, you're not losing Neopoints
-you can be pwned more times and still feed
-you can keep taking out food after your invent has 50 items, however you can't buy more food when your invent has 50 items
-you can set a price limit on what you buy so you'll never feed foods over a certain amount, ex. 5k or 10k
-if the site lags, SDB tends to lag less than the Shop Wiz does
-you can't use the Shop Wiz on a faerie quest, but you can always use your SDB
-you don't need to keep many Neopoints out, which is convenient in case you get taxed

tips

Alternatively, feel free to use windows instead of tabs. Try it both ways and see which one works best for you!

Again, make sure you keep enough Neopoints on hand if you Wiz feed. I would suggest 20-30k, but if you're desperate and going for the avatar, 50-100k is good. Also, make sure that you're not on a faerie quest and that you don't have near 50 items in your inventory.

Some people prefer Firefox over Chrome because they find that the Kadoatery page loads more quickly. Try both browsers to see which one is faster for you.

An easy way to see all of the Kads in the Kadoatery at once is to keep your zoom at 50% (or at anything lower than 100%).

It's easier to feed late at night than during the day. Try feeding between 9 PM and 6 AM NST!

I would suggest going for mains only, unless you are pro enough to feed minis, which either means you shouldn't be reading this guide or you should stop AFing. If you don't know what a mini is CLEARLY YOU DIDN'T READ ONE OF THE GUIDES LISTED SO DO THAT!

AFers are annoying and tend to do two things in particular: they will feed the very bottom right Kad, or they will feed the cheapest items. Ergo, I would generally avoid the bottom right Kad and also extremely cheap, common items.

Common foods will tend to get invent fed so I would avoid those too. Hot Dog, Pizza, etc. are all food groups that are commonly invent fed. This page has groups of Kad items if you want to see common invent food groups. There is a tendency that shorter food names are fed more slowly, but don't rely on this.

Really good overfeeders sometimes have spots they like to feed in almost all of the time. Know them. Avoid them.

A general note on safety: Kad food shops CAN have CGs in them, so please remain wary and keep all expensive items out of your trades and inventory. Keep a PIN on everything you care about. It may be a good idea to log out after feeding then log back in. And yes, it's rare but it's possible, and also the reason my old old main account (jaeistic) is frozen.

playing by the rules

AFing, or autofeeding, is against the rules and subject to freezing. Please don't cheat at the Kadoatery; kadding isn't terribly difficult and there's no need to risk your account. Besides, AFing is usually obvious and other users (such as myself) will report suspicious behavior immediately.

It's best to get a lot of kadding experience before reporting or accusing someone of AFing. If someone pwns you, that doesn't necessarily mean that they autofeed. Here are some suspicious things to watch for:

-if you refresh a millisecond late after a main goes, and a Kadoatie is already fed, there's a chance that that Kadoatie was autofed. However, please note that it's also entirely possible to feed invent items very quickly and legitimately. A fast, experienced kadder does not automatically make for an AFer. The most important thing here is to watch the next few mains to see if the feeder in question is feeding at the same speed, and if they are invent feeding. (If their items fall consistently into a food group, they probably aren't AFing.) If timekeepers consistently miss that feeder's items, and the items don't belong to a specific invent, you may have found an AFer.

-if someone consistently and very quickly feeds the bottom right Kad, he or she may be AFing. Again, please watch for a few mains before making any sort of judgment.

-if someone going for the avatar feeds over 75 Kadoaties and doesn't seem to be online and/or hasn't refreshed on their lookup for the avatar, they may be AFing. However, there previously was a glitch where legitimate feeders did not receive the Kad avatar, so this is not always the case.

-if someone feeds more than 1 Kadoatie in a single main from the same account, they are most likely cheating. It might be a glitch, but that's unlikely (unless there was severe lag during main). No one's username should show up more than once.

-if someone has over 50 items in their inventory, they are most likely overstuffing, which is against the rules. You're only allowed to have over 50 items if you're moving things around, but kadding doesn't count as moving things around. According to Editorial 231, having hundreds of items in your inventory for prolonged periods of time is quite fishy and you may be investigated by site monitors who will make sure you're not cheating or anything of that sort. Please feed fairly!

Again, it is TNT's responsibility to freeze cheaters, so please do not go out of your way to harrass a suspected AFer. Report quietly and keep feeding.

PS established overfeeders (as in the ones on the unofficial high scores list) don't AF. Don't waste your time.
Just click faster.

why overfeed?

People don't overfeed to prevent others from getting the avatar. The Kadoatery wasn't made for the avatar, and it's a part of the site that many users find both fun and addicting. Besides, overfeeders don't prevent anyone from going pink. With enough practice and patience, anyone can feed 75 Kadoaties (and many more). I personally feed because I love it. While some people (maybe even you) may not find feeding fun, that doesn't mean that everyone else finds overfeeding pointless.

If you have a problem with overfeeders, how do you feel about restockers? Stamp collectors? Neopian Times writers, Caption Competition winners, Beauty Contest entrants? Avatar game high-scorers? All make the site more competitive, and all are components of Neopets that users enjoy. Please don't be self-centered enough as to think that people do things just so that you can't.
