Kit's Art Page!

Yes. Sorry that it's unorganized! All images were drawn by nekolace (aka seakittie), so please do not take any images from this page unless you have permission! Thanks :)

This page is SUPER image heavy! Sorry for the load T___T

I used Photoshop CS6 or Fire Alpaca to draw. I have a Wacom tablet. Fire alpaca is free on mac. Adobe now lets anyone download the whole creative suite (photoshop, illustrator, etc.) for free.

You can neomail me other questions if you have it~

Note: I know I go by a lot of names on the internet :P You might recognize me by a different name, but I prefer if you call me kit or boxfullofbunnies, please! Thanks ^o^

Background practice :3

Progress shots of my bumblexwee design

first, messy sketch (doesnt have to be perfect) and then block your colors
Next, combine your lines & color into one layer. It might seem scary but trust me, it ultimately makes it a lot easier.
Now paint ONTO this layer! Refine as you go along.

People usually like my smooth style more T_____T but I don't know... I like my crayon style more and it is easier to draw for me :P These art is a little older by a few months, but I sprinkled it in here because I know everyone likes this style of mine better XD

Silly warmup sketch :P Cocoato on the left and Poiro on the right... if they had to do karaoke together... Poiro would choose a really over the top, dramatic song and force Cocoa to do it with her. She'd be SUPER into it, but Cocoa would just be mumbling on the side lines because he's 1. scared of Poiro's theatrics O_O 2. doesnt want to make a fool of himself 3. doesnt really know any popular music, so doesnt really know the words to the song/ how it goes

Another warm up sketch that turned into a character design for Dulcce my chocolate usul XD

It looks like she has four ears. Her smaller ears (in the lighter color) are really just tuffs of hair/fur that are in front of her real ears.

She has five tails, though. She has two main/regular sized tails, that are the same color (the brown) and side by side. On top of these two tails, is a shorter tail. Not as poofy or long. That one is the same color has the hair tuffs on her ears. In between the left big tail and the top tail, is another medium-sized pale tail. There's one on the other side too. So basically if you connect the dots of the tails, it's apentagon with the two bottom base points being the largest tails, going up to the top is the smallest.

How to Color

A quick and very incomplete guide

1. QUICK and very rough sketch!

SUPER quick, super rough. Don't worry about the details because you're going to paint over all of it anyways.

For example, if I was drawing this picture and planning on using my lines for clean line art, it would have taken 20~30 minutes. Instead, this sketch took 3~5 minutes. ITS OKAY IF ITS MESSY OR NOT PERFECT!

2. Pick your color palette BEFORE you start coloring

For me, this was the most crucial piece of advice I kept ignoring from my friends/artists I looked up to. It is extremely important to choose your base color palette before you start! You will add on to it, but for now, you want to choose colors that will work well together. CHOOSE A WIDE RANGE!

I won't use all these colors, but all the colors I DO use will have been from this palette.

Even if your pet is (for example) hex code #ABC123, you can stray a little bit from it to match the hue of everything else going on in the picture. I should have colored this picture with the background so that you would know why this is important.... but I forgot XD

3. Color Block!

On a new layer on TOP of all of your sketch, start throwing down the colors you're going to use. Again, this will probably look really messy, but don't be scared. Just do it. #nike :K

In my example, layers 1 and 2 are the sketch, the "COLOR" is the color layer I'm painting on (the Palette layer is the things you saw in the previous image)

You CAN put your color block layer underneath your sketch, but I recommend putting it on TOP of your sketch layers. This is because if you put it underneath, you tend to get super caught up on "omg, is this perfectly inside my lines?!" which again, you will fix later anyways, so it becomes wasted energy/ effort

4. Color Block moar

After you put down the base color, throw down your shadows as well. Here you can see that I added colors to my palette. By grouping all the samples together, I can make sure that every color I choose follows my color theme.

This is what the color blocking layer will look like without the sketch underneath it. Scary huh?? NOT TO WORRY! :D

5. Smooth it out!

Fill out the shapes you want. Just be confident in this step-- you don't need your sketch layer! If you REALLY want, you can turn the sketch layer on/off, but again, I recommend not doing it... because you get really caught up in it, and waste a lot of energy.

Just trust your instincts on what looks right and what doesn't.

Tip: Lock your transparency. But Kit?! What does that mean?! Okay, see in my "COLLORR" layer there is a lock symbol next to it? That is because I locked the TRANSPARENCY. (In the Layers module at the top, there is a Lock: [symbol] [symbol]. it's the first one with the checkered square). This means that you can't color outside of what is already filled.

So after you filled out the shape/silhouette that you want, you can shade it better by locking your transparency and not worrying if you step out of the lines

6. Add details!

Ultimately, this is up to whatever style you have. Please do not copy my style :C Thank you! Notice that in this step, you are working on the face as well

7. Fine tune as necessary!

The nice thing about lineless art is that it's super easy to fix something you don't like. I decided to go with a completely different facial expression. Ta da!
