CSS codes

Cascading Style Sheets, or CSS, is one of two codes in which nearly all webpages are written. There are many rules of CSS that you must keep in mind when coding layouts. One such rule is that CSS is typed within two style tags. When you type something between these tags, it means you want to start styling the page.

To start, you must add a selector, or the overall thing you are seeking to change. Examples of selectors include the many headers (h1, h2,h3, h4, h5, and h6). The selector must be followed by a space and a curly bracket ({). Next you must define the selector and and add an attribute, the thing you are changing of the selector. Examples of attributes include color and font size. Every attribute must be followed by a colon (:). Finally you must add a property to the attribute and add an semi-colon after it (;). You must also add a final curly bracket (}) after the semi-colon. Examples of properties include specific hex codes (say #fff). Next you add another selector and so on. Once finished, you should end the process by adding another style tag. This time, however; a slash should follow the first tag.

HTML codes

Hyper Text Mark-up Language, or HTML, is the code in which nearly all webpages are written. In spite of its complicated name, the actual code is very simple. Before you can start learning HTML, however; there is one main thing that you need to know.

All commands are typed within triangular brackets, sometimes known as carrot brackets or greater/less than signs. These are called tags. When you type something between these tags, it means you want to start a command. When you want to end a command you need to end the tags. To end a tag you type you add a backslash (/) after the opening tag.

There are a few exceptions that do not need to be ended, but we will come to these later. The concept of tags is the hardest thing to grasp in HTML, and once you understand that every command needs to be inside tags, you will be well on your way to mastering webpages.

Specific Codes

Sometimes certain codes don't work with all the different types of layouts you can code on neopets. Certain Removal Codes, for example; only work with userlookups. To make it easier for visitors such as yourself to navigate through these codes; I have compiled these "layout specific" codes into their own little section. Some codes are not listed in the HTML/CSS sections while others are listed twice due to the simple fact that they would be more conveniently placed in both sections rather than one. Enjoy!
