Battledoming for Dailies

I speak to a lot of players about how to train for the battledome and every time the same questions always seem to arise so I've decided to collect everything that I've spoken about and compile it into this handy guide.

I hope to cover the basics of what the battledome is in this short guide and give you enough to comfortably fight in the battledome each day. I will try and keep it relatively short but am happy to add more should further questions arise.

Firstly, if you are on a budget, I recommend only having one pet that you train for the battledome. The more pets you have the more expensive it will be to train.

What is the battledome

The battledome is a place where you can fight other player's pets or a selection of 1 player opponents. Each day you can earn 1500np and up to 15 items. For most the battledome is used as a very profitable daily but there are also others who use it for 2 player tournaments against other players or have 1 player score challenges.

This guide will cover how to make the most of using the battledome as a daily but I will link to some more advanced guides below.

Go to the Battledome

Stats and how to train them

Your pets stats are vital as they determine how effective your pet is with the weapons that are used during the fight.

The main stats that you will want to focus on are Health, Strength and Level. Although I do recommend training defence equally with strength.

Health determines how much damage you can take. If your health gets to 0 you will loose.

Strength your strength boost determines how much damage you do per icon

Defence determines how much damage you absorb per icon

Level allows you to train other stats (2x or 3x depending on the training school) it also allows you to learn faerie abilities

Agility and intelligence at this stage only allow you to equip certain items. For most battlers either of these stats can be neglected.

Stats and boosts

When you increase strength and defence you will not see a gradual increase in performance, instead the damage per icon and defence is calculated based on a range.

For example if my strength is 13 I will do 1 damage per icon. This will not increase until my strength then hits 20 where it will do 1.25 per icon.

I've included a table below which outlines what the different ranges are – which we refer to as boosts.

StrengthDamage per icon
1 to 7.5
8 to 12.75
13 to 19 1
20 to 341.25
35 to 541.5
55 to 842
85 to 124 2.5
125 to 199 3
200 to 249 4.5
250 to 2995.5
300 to 3496.5
350 to 3997.5
400 to 4498.5
450 to 4999.75
500 to 54911
550 to 59912
600 to 649 13
650 to 69914
700 to 74915
750 or higher16

This is a good time to state that the way weapons do damage is based on the amount of elemental icons they do. Each element has a chance of being blocked by your opponent however if the item they use defends against that elemental type.
Multi Barbed Ice Spear
Leaded Air Vial

In the example above my pet uses the Multi Barbed Ice Spear whilst my opponent used the Leaded Air Vial. Since the vial blocks 5 air icons my weapon only does 4 water and 3 Darkness for a combined 7 icons of damage.

There are a few ways to increase your stats, I will outline each method below and it will be up to you which you choose. Many people just use the training schools as they are the cheapest up to a point. For a beginner the Academy and Mystery Island Schools are the best value but for speed it may be worth looking into the other methods also.

Training Schools
The schools offer courses based on your pets level. Each course costs a number of tokens (Dubloons for Academy, Codestones for Mystery Island and Red Codestones for Ninja) and a certain amount of time.

Pirate Academy
Can train your pet up to a maximum level of 40 and each stat to 80. This is the cheapest method of training, however the courses do take a while.
For speed, I would recommend training at mystery island and then putting your pet in the academy overnight

Course Type Neopet Level Cost Length
Sea Urchin 10 and under
1 Dubloon
4 hours
Deckhand 11-20
2 Dubloons
6 hours
Pirate 21-30
5 Dubloons
8 hours
Cap'n 31-40
5 Dubloons
10 hours

Mystery Island
Can train your pet up to level 250. The benefit of training here is that the courses for lower level pets are much faster and you can train your HP up to 3x your level. If you want to train anything else though you will have to get your level back up to 2x your HP.

Course Type Neopet Level Cost Length
Grasshopper 20 and Under 1 codestone 2 hours
Basic 21-40 2 codestones 3 hours
Intermediate 41-80 3 codestones 4 hours
Adept 81-100 4 codestones 6 hours
Advanced 101-120 5 codestones 8 hours
Expert 121-150 6 codestones 12 hours
Master 151-200 7 codestones 18 hours
Grand Master 201-250 8 codestones 24 hours

Stat Increasers
Items that can be consumed to increase stats. These are more expensive but much faster. I will outline the ones that you should use below. Remember that some may be cheaper but may only have a chance to increase a stat.

For the purpose of fighting for the daily the amount of weapons needed will be minimal.

The basic weapon set to start off with would be 2x Scroll of Ultranova and a Magical Healing Potion. These can be picked up on the shop wiz for less than 1,000nps in total.

Scroll of Ultranova

*Note that even though there are 4 air and fire icons, actual damage is 3.4 icons each.
Magical Healing Potion
Heals 15 HP

[ More weapons coming soon ]
may include:
10 iconers such as multi barbed spear, scroll of knowedge, barbat throwing star, Sun and Moon Chakram
11 inconers Altador cup throwing star Stone foam finger
13 iconers Skarls hasty mace anagrams Healing
Healers: Cursed elixir Oasis Tonic – 35hp Greater Healing scroll – 50hp Helm of Recovery 50% healers

Faerie Abilities

Faerie abilities can be used in the Battledome to do extra damage, heal you, freeze your opponent or block incoming damage. The two that I find most useful are outlined below.

Level 25 - Icicle
Does 6 icons of water damage. Great for a low level as it adds a nice boost to your attack until you hit level 50.

Level 50 - Lens Flare
At level 50 lens flare lets you attack your opponent and freezes them for the turn so you take no damage. If you want to read up on other faerie abilities please take a look at the great guide that _MarioKart_ has put together.
